My son received a letter from the Navy awarding him a scholarship to his first choice school. After some reflection on his part, he has decided that he would like to go to what was originally listed as his #3 choice. He has filled out the Placement Change Request For NROTC Nominee.

How does he handle the deadline to accept his scholarship? In that original award letter, it points him to a web site to formally accept or reject the scholarship by March 27. Since he is pursuing a change it schools, how should this be handled? There are only two choices: accept or decline.

Your DS should accept the scholarship as is. He should submit the change request also.

The acceptance is non-binding: he can (and should) accept the scholarship by March 27. This secures the scholarship. The transfer is a separate process altogether.

Agree with USMCGrunt. My DS accepted, then switched his # 1 & 2 schools.
