NROTC and AROTC stats

For the second board I got a 4 year to my #1 school. I only put down 3 schools and was only awarded to my number 1. My stats were something like this:
GPA: 4.3 (weighted)
5 AP classes
ACT: 29
2 Varsity Letters in XC and 4 Varsity letters for Soccer
Soccer: All State, All Region, All Conference, Team MVP, Team Captain, Player of the Year (from a local paper), and All Observer Team
Girls State Delegate
Girls Scouts with Bronze and Silver Award
Presidential Service Award (Bronze)
Beta Club Member
Leader in the Environmental Club and Powerlifting Club

My interview went extremely well and at the end I was told that all 3 of my interviewers recommended me for the scholarship. I did mention in my interview that I was being recruited for soccer (full tuition) at other universities but was not interested because I wanted to focus on ROTC, so I believe this may have helped me. I also feel like I had really strong personal statements on the application. Also, I worked during the year. Best of luck :)

my son,
3yr winner AROTC
GPA 3.5, 2 APs Jr year
SAT CR 630
SAT Math 580
PFT; PU 65, SU 80, Run, 6:11
4 years varsity football, captain sr year, county 1st team defense
1 year varsity wrestling (stopped after 1 year)
some community service but not much
attended Norwich Future Leaders Camp
participated in National Outdoor Leadership School 30 day Yukon expedition
My stats are either the same or maybe a little better than your sons so hopefully I can get it on the next one. Do you mind sharing what schools he got the scholarship for?

Unfortunately, I don't know if comparing stats on here is very helpful to those still waiting. There are two many variables that we do not know, for example, the survey results, or how many applicants, there might be many kids with just a 10 point difference, so it literally could be splitting hairs. We are definitely hoping for the best next board but have plans B and even C in place. Best of luck to everyone waiting, and I honestly think that instead of comparing yourself to others, to just have trust and faith that you will end up where you are supposed to and that you have personally done everything you can to effect that.

I think that ACT/SAT is the single most important factor for ROTC/Academies. The "whole person" concept is inviting, but not realistic. If you don't have the scores, it is much less likely to get an appointment or scholarship. IMO.
I have to disagree albeit total speculation. My DS received a 3yr AROTC scholarship from the 2nd board (he wasn't ready for the 1st) with marginal SAT scores 1290 M+R SS to his 1st, 3rd, and 5th school choices. Other stuff represents a well-rounded kid making choices with limited time available. 4 yr varsity athlete in a single sport, 3.5 GPA with a single AP course and he scored a C, some honors courses but the requisite Chem, Physics, Calc A/B, etc.. DS held a job through school 20-25 hours/week, competed in DECA at the national level but frankly had zero time left for volunteer or school officer leadership positions and wasn't a member of NHS. The feedback from his interview was positive and I thought his essays were a masterful weaving of everything important that didn't fit into a check box.

What he was able to convey was a strong commitment to task and desire to serve and I firmly believe his records were reviewed from a WCS perspective. Lastly, I'm convinced the "questionnaire" is very important. I use it without fail in my own business and they are telling.

I recieved a 4-year scholarship to my three top schools in the second AROTC board. 1910 SAT 32 ACT, member of NHS, Student rep to school comittee, on superintendants student advisory council, 76 pu 59 su 7:07 1m, 7AP classes gpa 3.6 unweighted

my stats seem a little lower than everybody elses but i was still awarded a 4-year to my top 3 schools so those of you waiting, keep hope!!

Congrats! Is that 4yrs to any school with no cap on tuition? Or state school? Is it just tuition no room & board? I have son #2 deciding on applying to Navy or Air Force ROTC?

Some of these claims are a little silly. There is no possible way to do 80 correct sit-ups or push-ups in a minute. Thats just not correct. That means they did more than one per second for a solid minute with no breaks. It is not possible to have correct form and get those kinds of numbers.

I was given a 4 year NROTC Scholarship to Notre Dame in September. 1920 SAT, 650 math, 660 reading, 610 writing. Varsity Cross country for 4 years and team captain. Varsity Swim Team for 3 years and team captain. Student Government President, Honors Council, I owned my own business, NHS. There is other extracurriculars, but some of them are not very common. I 75 push ups (max) 88 sit ups and a 6:14 mile, I was very disappointed by the run. 5 AP courses and a 3.7 GPQ unweighted and 4.17 weighted.
Im sorry but there is no way to have correct form and do 88 situps and 75 pushups in a single minute

I've seen people do it. There was a marine operator who could do 100 push ups in a minute. Just because you can't do it doesn't me he can't.

4 year winner off the 1st board to top 3 schools.

-Gpa: 3.0
-Sat: 1920 (1320)
-5 ap classes
-academic letter
-7 varsity letters
-team captain of a varsity sport
-2 years jrotc. Held many positions
-Boys state
-Club founder/president/vp/rep (multiple clubs)
-over 350 hours community service
-united states patent holder (inventor)
-pft: pu 70s, su 80s, run high 6
-NLC at UNG
-karate for 11 years (black belt)

Weakest part of my app was gpa for sure. Stressed me out a ton. Still turned out alright though. Best of luck to all applicants. Always complete the application.. you'll never know If you dont.

This has been my second year applying to the service academies.

Last year, I was awarded a 4-year Army ROTC to Johns Hopkins University. I applied very late, maybe around January and heard back 1 month later about the scholarship. Could not accept it due to the delay in the waiver process by the time it was August (due to the lateness in my application). This year, I received a 4-year Navy ROTC scholarship for UMBC which I did apply early for but heard in January.

College GPA: 3.71 (resembles plebe courses)
SAT: 2140 (760 math/700 critical/680 writing)
HS UW GPA: 3.68 (senior)
W: 4.39
HS W Rank: 19/223 (senior)
Sports (captain, state, county awards)
Volunteer Hr (300+)
Clubs (NHS, Presidents, Vice President, Secretary, Rep.)

I was a bit confused with the "4" in my NROTC scholarship since I would be a sophomore but the board doesn't know how to allocate college students or that's what people on the forum have told me. Interviews are very important. Some of the questions were about judgement and even my diet. It was honestly more elaborate than the service academy interviews. I plan to attend USMA.

I disagree, my DS was awarded a 4 year scholarship last year in the second board, his ACT was 24, however is unweighted GPA was 3.95 and he had 11 AP classes or dual credit. He was in three varsity sports and team captain in two, JROTC, orchestra and Orchestra officer, involved in YLI and NCYL, and very involved with mission work at church. He had a strong essay and letters of recommendation from his JROTC teachers, a LTC in the guard, his YLI director and our pastor. Remember that it is the whole person, he is doing great at school and was awesome. As a matter of fact he received the Department of the Army academic achievement award this past weekend at his Military Ball.

DS was 3 yr winner. Weakest part of his stats: ACT score. It seems that AROTC, more than anyone, looks at the entire person.

I won the 4yr AROTC scholarship to my top 3 (University of Illinois, Eastern Illinois, and SIU Carbondale). Top 7% in my class of 367, 3.70 GPA, 30 act, 7 varsity letters in two different sports (basketball and soccer), maxed p/u and s/u on my PFA, Mike til was sub 7:00, lots of community service, Model UN president, Illinois State Scholar.

That is 4 years tuition to university of Vermont, Saint Michael's College, and Springfield College. It can be decided by the winner to cover either room and boar OR tuition, not both. Although there are a number of schools that will cover room and board if the student has recieved an ROTC scholarship. As I have seen I believe that it is similar for NROTC and AFROTC but im sure there are slight variations

You're right I didn't do it in 1 minute. I did it in the 2 minute testing period given. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you criticize people.

Did you know that the Army ROTC scholarship uses the Presidential Fitness Test that regulates ONE MINUTE for push-ups and sit ups?

No I didn't know that, but we are talking about the NROTC scholarship.
