Hi all,
I was awarded a 4 year NROTC scholarship to Drexel University. However, the University also awarded me a $22,500 merit scholarship. Do I completely lose this scholarship or does it count as taxable income or can be used towards other things(personal expenses)?

merit scholarships

Check with the bursars office, some schools only allow merit scholarships to be applied to tuition

+1

Read the fine print of the merit scholarship, it should tell you how they will apply it. If they taker 1st place, and NROTC is second, than it could be taxable.
~~~ One nice thing about AFROTC is they only pay tuition, the tax option is never a player in the equation.
