    Hello all,
Right now I am waiting to hear the decision on my NROTC scholarship application. In mid september my application status was updated to say "Your NROTC application has be received by Naval Education and Training Command, blah, blah, blah" (You all know what I am talking about). So today I was checking my application status and instead of seeing the above screen, I saw a screen with some of my application data i.e top five schools, address, SAT/ACT scores, and under application status it said "No decision has been made on your application." My first question is about the above status. Does no decision mean they haven't looked at my application yet, or does it mean that my application has been looked at, and passed over for the past selection board? My next question has to do with the ACT/SAT scores the status page posted, and it is quite irritating. On my ACT, I got a 31 composite, 33 english, 31 math. (Only sent in scores for one test) On the status page for some reason it converted my scores to the SAT individual section scale (out of 800). It listed my scores as a 640 math and a 670 verbal. At first look these scores looked a bit low so I found a SAT/ACT conversion table and my suspicions were true: converting these scores I end up with a 29 english and a 30 math. In summary, what I am asking is what's the deal with this new status page, and what should I do about this possible problem with the ACT scores, or is it a problem at all?

I would appreciate if someone would double check my score conversion in case I screwed something up or I looked at a bad conversion chart.

    Tigerman14,
That no decision means exactly that, no decision has been made. If your application is complete it has probably been looked at over the past reviews but did not get picked....yet. My son's page stayed like that until Feb when I saw that the NROTC was getting his DODMERB physical which I knew meant that he was getting a scholarship. The DODMERB page is a good one to follow as there is a lag between no decision and congratulations. NROTC does not pull the physical unless an offer is in the making. As far as those ACT scores I think they are a bit low conversions. Just call Pensicola and ask about them. They were always helpful to me and my son when we needed things cleared up. Gook luck. Go Navy!

It's nice that NROTC has status updates on their pages. On the AROTC it stays that you should contact your local PMS for an interview.

Hopefully you'll see a change soon. Good luck!

    ?? Tracking with DodMerB

"The DODMERB page is a good one to follow as there is a lag between no decision and congratulations." How can the DODMERB page help you figure out you status for NROTC or any of the service academies. Thanks

Dodmerb, at least 2 yrs ago changed before we received the official letter. It is easy for Dodmerb because they have someone to go online and input the stats, unlike the official letter which is printed and mailed the snail mail way.

My understanding is that unless you are going for one of the academies you don't go through Dodmerb until you've received your scholarship. My son has done it but it was due to his West Point Application not the ROTC scholarship.

Where can you see who has received the results anyway?

You maybe correct, our DS also did both, so that very well might be true.

You can only see your results on your Dodmerb page, it will have an update, can't remember what it actually stated, but I think it went from no mention of ROTC scholarship, just AFA candidate/appointee, to it stating AFROTC. It did not say the type.

Thanks. From what others have said you used to do the Dodmerb testing right away and now they only have you do it if you are given the scholarship in order to say money.

It would be terrible to be offered a scholarship though and then be disqualified due to your test results. I'm glad that my son got to get them all over with ahead of time.

FWIW - I have heard the Army (unlike the Navy & AF) still requires Dodmerb testing before awarding scholarships.

Wow that is shocking, and sounds inane at the same time. I guess they have done studies and have found that DQ's are rare, thus for cost efficiency it is best to give the physical after awarding.

Than again since DS also did SA and ROTC at the same time, maybe it has always been that way for ROTC.

All I can remember (brain is now being filled with DD's stats for her colleges), is that his DODMerb page did change prior to the letter....if memory serves, we called AFROTC in Maxwell, stating that we were going to do a college visit with an AFROTC det (where he is at) and asked them if they could give us the results, since this was going to be the make or break day for him.(if he loved it he was going regardless of scholarship, but it would be nice to know when speaking to the commander) They did.

Now for all of you, before you start calling, that was after we got the 1st letter stating he met the board and results would be released in the next few weeks, and his DODMerb changed after that letter. DOn't start inundating the scholarship hdqtrs. You have a ton of time, you might be anxious, but you are not at the point of having Civilian universities acceptances and appointment letter in hand. That is when it becomes difficult and the scholarship really comes into play.

I don't think so. Son has applied for AROTC. No SA or other ROTCs. Cadet Command says his app is complete. Dodmerb was not part of the process.

Both my sons have applied for Academies and for ROTC scholarships.

2 years ago, oldest son received request for DODMERB right after USAFA summer seminar. He completed his DODMERB that summer and when I looked online, USAFA and USMA were listed as having requested the exam. (USNA asks for exam after you are further along their oinline application) He qualified in August. He received AROTC scholarship during first round (we found out from the PMS early and it took awhile for his name to be uploaded to DODMERB for AROTC. When his name was given to AROTC, his DODMERB exam was looked at again and then qualified for AROTC.

This year, the scenario was pretty much the same. youngest son received DODMERB paperwork in the summer since he had an active application file from summer seminar applications. He was DODMERB Qualified for USMA and USAFA in July. AROTC and AFROTC applications had been completed in the summer, and AFROTC did not mention DODMERB. AROTC did mention hearing from DODMERB within 6 weeks, but another poster (Goaliedad?) on another thread mentioned that they called cadet command and that was a mistake...no DODMERB letter until you qualify for scholarship. NROTC has not mentioned DODMERB either.

An email from Larry Mullen, Deputy Director DODMERB, said that DODMERB will not be able to review candidate's DODMERB exam until ROTC has uploaded their name to DODMERB. Even if a DODMERB file is open for a candidate because of academy application, the request must come from the ROTC headquarters.

So, it is possible that a request for a DODMERB exam from an ROTC branch might show up online in a candidate's DODMERB account, prior to that candidate finding out from Cadet Command (or whichever ROTC HQ) via snail mail. But if you don't yet have a DODMERB account, because you haven't been contacted by DODMERB for the academies, then you can't check that source.

    DODMERB and NROTC

Just from personal experience. Apps for USNA and NROTC were in before start of son's senior year. USNA request for DODMERB showed up right away since it is part of the app and needs to be passed before you go anywhere. The NROTC doesn't ask for a DODMERB physical unless they are awarding a scholarship. My son's DODMERB page showed that NROTC requested his physical, the next day a call to Pensicola confirmed he was awarded a scholarship but his NROTC page still said no decision, the official letter arrived on Monday and I believe web site still had the no decision line on. So if your DODMERB page shows up NROTC requests I say it is time for the party to start. I have no experience with any other branch since what counts is GO NAVY! Not saying that I am biased in any way, shape or form.

I got an email from a young man on another site who is scheduled to take his Dodmerb before going in front of an Army ROTC board.

"I recently received my Dodmerb instructions via mail. That is the last I have heard from Army though, still no selection decision. I have my physical on November 3rd. So perhaps the next board date after that I can expect to hear something."

Perhaps it is different for each candidate? Doesn't make sense but this young man seems pretty definite and he is NOT applying to any of the academies.

    Question:

It says English/Critical Reading, and my English Verbal is different from my Critical Reading for ACT. Can I just go with the higher one, or what should I do in this situation?
