Bottom line, while there are similarities, there are also marked differences. For example, bob80q believes mecep students are a real positive to the citadel's ROTC program--I see his point, but I disagree. VMI opted not to participate with the program because the students would not be cadets living in barracks. Many ROTC programs have mecep students, but no service academies have mecep or civilian students, and neither does VMI. Just another example of the many differences between the programs...
