Pensacola taking into account an academic major for a 4-year scholarship has been discussed, and it is noted that - unlike prior to two years ago - only 15% of scholarships will be awarded to Tier 3 applicants (and that includes the critical language majors). So, now the follow-up question.

If a student does not get a 4-year scholarship (or, I suppose, did not apply for one) and nonetheless participates in NROTC and applied for a 3 (or 3 1/2) year college program scholarship, is his/her major taken into account? At that point has his/her major become irrelevant? Or, as in some other cirumstances (such as coming off a wait-list), do they make it available to a certain Tier only because someone in that Tier has dropped out of the program?

Thanks for any advice.

This is a very good question. I'd be interested in knowing the answer too.

I believe it is. Given if a student on a scholarship changes to a Tier 3 major they must go back to the board for approval. I see no reason why they wouldn't apply the Tier of major to the decision for a CP scholarship since the major is still relevant when changing majors once granted a scholarship. One of the CO's scholarships may be the most likely chance for a scholarship for a Tier 3 major in the college program.
