As a freshman finishing my second semester of college, I have signed up for the NROTC College Program at my school next year. I was curious as to whether or not College Programmers received the stipend Scholarship midshipmen do, as well as if they are overall considered similar- Reserve Navy while in college. Just curious.

No stipend is received until you contract. That means you've either received an in-school (sideload) scholarship or have been approved for the advanced course between sophomore and junior years in college. You also don't participate in summer training cruises until you contract. Aside from that you participate just like all the other midshipmen. Good luck.... my DS started out as a college programmer. He commissions in two weeks!

Thanks and good luck to them! My family was trying to figure out if I get the stipend and if I'd be getting a Military ID or anything.

Yeah, no military ID until you contract as well. Even then you probably don't get it until you need it, like for a summer training cruise or something but I'm not sure about that part.

Thanks! Terribly proud! We won't find out until sometime late in TBS. He used to know what he wanted to do but the Marines got rid of that MOS, so now he has no idea. They have mixers, I think every Friday, right there at TBS with officers from all different MOSs, so he hope to take advantage of that to rank his choices.... but ultimately he'll be happy to do whatever the Corps wants.
