Hello everyone! I'm trying to submit my NROTC application by Tuesday in order to be eligible for review by the first board. I've completed everything on the application, and only the essays remain. I've never been good at writing essays and I get insane writer's block. I've been looking at a ton of other threads on the topic, and so far, every single one has at least one response along the lines of "don't write about what the Navy can do for you, write about what you can do for the Navy" or "you're trying to sell yourself to the Navy" or "write about what you can offer the Navy" etc, etc. However, I'm still left with the question, what is it that the Navy wants from me? What does it want me to be able to offer them that I can write about in the essay? Anything to avoid the deal-breaker "When I was 6 and I saw my first destroyer I knew I wanted to be a SWO/Sub/Pilot/etc" line. And how critical exactly is the essay to my application? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
