I got a call from my scholarship technician today, stating I needed to complete final forms/interview ASAP, so I could meet the first board (early next week).According to her, they are putting rushes on competitive files.

She also stated that notification of scholarships received generally takes a little under 2 months.

At least we know a general time frame!
Good luck to everyone!

I was informed by the CO handling my application that the first board finished several days ago. The first board is typically in August, although apparently that didn't materialize last year. Notifications usually take about two to three weeks, from what parents and recipients on this forum have posted in the past. You might want to get clarification from the scholarship tech- given, I'm brand-new to NROTC and the scholarship process, so things may very well have changed. Good luck to you, in any case!

Very odd.. I will definitely confirm. I am a nursing applicant, so there may be a difference in board dates..

Thanks for the info!

2 to 3 weeks versus 2 months sounds great!

I think what your technician may be saying is that it can take 2 months because for some of you, you will be re-boarded. The 1st board is one that they start the base line for, they are not going to hand out everyone an answer for that board, which means they will be re-boarded.

Additionally, every yr there is always a branch that has issues getting out the results. 3 yrs ago it was AFROTC and it took 6-8 weeks, LY they had answers with in 2 weeks. LY the AROTC took 6-8 weeks for their board. Who knows how fast it will be this yr for AROTC. I believe it was about 2 yrs ago that NROTC had their delay issue which was rectified LY.

Point is just because LY they had them in 2-3 weeks don't start hovering over the mailbox in 2 weeks and 1 day.

Finally, as it has been stated over and over again, this is a queue system, First In, First Out. It is rare that they get through every application in one board, esp. the 1st board where the pile is usually the largest. They meet for X days, and whatever is left on the table will go to the top of the pile for the next board. Just because they have 1000 on the table may not equate into 1000 being boarded.

If you want to go by yrs passed, I will tell you that many candidates LY who had their packets in by mid-Aug. didn't not get boarded until Oct. And to answer the next question, Maybe...Not every candidate is told if they were boarded or not by their contact person, so some were left wondering if they had met the board at all.
