Has anyone heard great news?

DS hasn't received bad news, but got the "no decision has been made" update on the portal.

Way too soon for folks to be getting good news, or even news on re-boarding. I think your message means nothing more than it says. At the very earliest someone might hear next week. More likely the week after that or even the week after that. Hang tough. It's a long ride to April. Hope yours doesn't take that long.

I agree it is way early for an answer. Basically, if the board ended last week, that is only about 2 days to turn it around which would be the 1st time I have ever seen that occur.

One thing I can guarantee you for sure, as soon as someone hears good news they will post it and the thread will light up like a xmas tree.

Thank you, Kinnem and Pima!

Recruiter told DS he'd hear something in about a week or so, so we thought this was "hearing" from them..I have to keep reminding myself from my army days that reality is more likely the "or so" part!

Since you were military, than I suggest you use the old adage of HURRY UP AND WAIT! :bang: :biglaugh: :hammer: :w00t:

I know AFROTC typically is the fastest because for AFROTC there is no matching up schools with the recipients. Even so, for AFROTC it is still about 2 weeks or 10 business days.

Plus, remember as someone that was in the Army, for this board there was a holiday weekend. Bullet at the Pentagon was let loose at noon on Friday, and that is very common for the military, thus Friday and Monday need to be removed from the working day equation.

If I do my math, and if the board dates were correct, that leaves only the 30th to input the list of recipients, and have the schools select from the list for you to get your response on Tuesday.

Think about it, if they had boarded 1000K applicants, this would all have to be completed because traditionally they input all of the info and release almost all results simultaneously at one time. That is another reason why it takes more than 1-2 business days after a board meets.

Maybe this yr., it will be faster, but I would hold tight for at least 2 more weeks to really know. Like I said, there will be an OP that says they got one. Trust me, there is no need to start a thread asking if anyone heard yet. They will be the 1st, and everyone else will check their own portals to see the change. I found out my DS got accepted to his college while he was in school on collegeconfidential.com this way. The results were suppose to be released 5 days later, but someone checked and the thread lit up. This site is no different. Someone is going to see their portal change and everyone will check their own.

Asking if anyone heard is not going to settle your agita, if someone has heard it still is the same result for you. Maybe even worse mentally. This is a roller coaster ride AND a marathon. Best to spend this time building memories with your child. Trust me as a Mom of an O1 12 grad stationed in TX, my biggest regret is I didn't make enough memories, and spent too much time worrying about those dang gum boards. He will be gone in less than a yr. You will find the money if that is the issue, and he will commission if he truly wants it, and if that his fate. The one thing you can't get back is memories that could have been made. Not saying you aren't making memories, just saying, for me, IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME....

I would also say, from what I have learned on this board, the 1st couple of boards is setting the bar. Unless, your DS has amazing stats, that they can say from a historical perspective he would get the scholarship no matter what future candidates have in their profile, don't read too much into being re-boarded.

Especially, the very 1st.

DS is also waiting for "official" word. Although he was told he was awarded the full NROTC scholarship through ISR on Aug 2, we will still feel far more comfortable with the official notice comes in.

Being prior army, I understand all too well "Hurry up and wait". With all of the waiting for word from his various applications, I feel he will understand that well by the Spring. Just praying that everything is worth the wait.

I'm pretty sure back in the dark ages when DH and I were doing AROTC, the process was not this involoved! Course I also remember my mom dropping me off at the curb and that was that...kind of funny.
I would not trade all the hurry up and wait for anything (well, except acceptance and appointment, of course!). As you, Pima, and others have said, the memories and bonding over this process with DS have been priceless!
I don't get jealous or freaked out about reading others' success because when DS comes home and we chat he always asks "what did you learn on SAF today?" Its fun for us. I will send good quotes or whole threads that I think have good insight for him (usually things we have told him, but always more effective from someone else."
If this board has taught me one major thing over all others is that nothing is black and white. DS could have all stats above the profile, but that doesn't mean scholarship or appointment. The veterans have taught us many many things that have helped prepare a better application and now that he has hit save and send we have fun and wait.
And when he comes home today and asks me what I learned, I will tell him that Pima chewed my booty  Thank you!

Status message

My DS's status says it is at the NETC for "final processing and selection determination" It has said that since Aug 24, after our recruiter rushed the package to try to get it to them before the first board. So does that mean it was not looked at by the first board or is that the standard status until a decision is made?

If you review this thread:

It appears that there is one more change according to this thread

I submitted my application about 3-4 weeks ago (all items completed) and my portal says this:

"The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application.
Missing Items
All required items have been processed.
Selection Status
No decision has been made on your application" And then continues with my personal data.

My portal remained like yours for about a week and then changed to this. Hope this helped!

That post was during the time frame the board was meeting.

Thanks Pima. The waa-aiiii-ting is the hardest part (with humble apologies to Tom Petty)
