    Hello everyone,

My cousin is set on applying for an NROTC scholarship with nursing or engineering as her major. She is in her junior year of HS. I'm Army ROTC so I have no experience with the NROTC application process.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what she should do beginning now?

I looked over the NROTC site and I guess there's no physical fitness test as far as the scholarship application is concerned.

As far as what she has to submit, it looks like besides the online application, she will have to send official SAT/ACT scores and an official transcript.

Any info is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Jeff. I received a Marine Option NROTC scholarship so maybe I can offer a little bit of assistance. As far as a fitness test, Marine Options were required to submit a standard Marine PFT with the scholarship application. I am almost positive that Navy options were required to submit a Navy PRT. So tell your cousin to look up the standards for a Navy PRT and start training for that. Also, since she is a Junior in high school right now she should get in touch with an OSO and see when she is able to start the online application. My best advice is get everything done as early as possible and don't wait til the last minute. Hope that helps. Good luck to her!

Complete and submit NROTC application to the best of your ability as required by NROTC. Seriously research admission requirements of top 5 colleges you would attend if granted scholarship. Apply early and be confident #1 school will admit you. IMHO, do not list "reach" school as #1 choice.

    Then hurry up and wait!!!!

I applied, wasnt accepted. There is no PRT, as opposed to what tftp said.

When you are almost done filling out the application, and before you submit it, you will receive a call from a scholarship coordinator to set you up with an interview and stuff. Submit you app when its complete, interview, and spend the next 8 months waiting. Haha

For Marine Option PFT is part of the application, however Navy Option has to take it before they contract.
