So my NROTC coordinator recently reached out to me to setup my interview. He said I get to pick the place to do the interview at. What's an appropriate setting to do this interview at?

For NROTC/MO, my DS interviewed with two Marine officers at their office.
For USNA, my DS interview with his BGO was at a Starbucks (on the patio).

Both worked well. Choose someplace that will allow you to relax and be yourself....not distracting or noisy.

My DS NROTC interview was at the officer's office. A public place, like a Starbucks, would be best as long as it is relatively quiet and you can have a private conversation.

I did my interview in the recruiting officer's office at the closest university with AROTC because the school I wanted to apply it to is 9 hours away.
