I was just wondering if anyone could tell me, that if I go Marine Option in let's say The Citadel NROTC Unit, would the aviation summer cruise still be available or is that only for those intending to enter the Navy, thus, I'd have to take different Marine Corps specific assignments? Any info is greatly appreciated!

If you are a Marine Option, your summer training is set as follows:

After freshman year, you go on a cortramid cruise with navy options also. You spend a week at a Marine base, submarine base, navy air base ans surface warfare base

After sophomore year you go to mountain warfare school (Marine option only)

After junior year you go to Officer Candidate School (Marine option only)

There are exceptions, of course, but this is normal track

It might be possible to change out Mt. Warfare for an aviation cruise. I know it can be done if there is a serious calendar conflict with something else the Corps wants you to do that summer. I do not know if it can be done by choice, but it would be worth having that conversation with cadre your sophomore year. The worst that can happen is they say 'No'. CORTRAMID and OCS are non-negotiable except for serious injury, but in that case you aren't doing a summer cruise.
