NROTC Marine Option Scholarship Notification

Congrats to all getting positive news!

And hang in there to those who do not … stay faithful and keep working the dream. Persistence pays.

From our first days at San Diego, Parris Island or Quantico, NCO’s bluntly explained to us that
the Corps would be entirely satisfied if we gave 100% -- And entirely dissatisfied if we gave 99% !

westcoastmom,

did the recruiter say how/when to expect further details/notification?

The recruiter said we'd receive a package in the mail, but no time frame. However, his portal has updated to show that he received the scholarship. He has been playing phone tag with the XO.

4 Yr NROTC Marine Option Notification!

DS was notified this afternoon he is being offered a 4 year Marine Option Scholarship to the University of Wisconsin. He went to UW as a College Programmer last fall majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He really enjoys the camaraderie of his fellow 4C NROTC MO and plans to room with 3 other midshipmen next fall. He worked very hard to demonstrate his capabilities including 300 PFT's and being on the Dean's List with a freshman engineering course load.

There is a link on the ROTC scholarship application status portal download a PDF version of a packet of information. I beleive it would be the same one talked about in the earliers posts that you may also receive in the mail. So if you would don't want to wait, you can probably find it on the portal as well. This is for the Marine Option. It may be different for the Navy Option portal.

Just FYI. The packet is essentially the same as what's on the portal. You can accept the scholarship on the portal and download the forms.

Congrats to your son on the NROTC MO scholarship! My son just got a 4 year NROTC scholarship to UW Madison for next fall. We are hoping to visit next week during our spring break to figure out housing and hopefully to get some other NROTC questions answered. I was just excited to see another Badger on the board (even though his Dad and I are Spartans...we'll adjust.)

Welcome to the Badger Battalion!

Congratulations to you and your son as well. My son really enjoys the Badger Battalion. For Spring break he went with two other ROTC 4Cs to South Dakota to hike and camp for a few days instead of just coming home and decompressing. We did manage to have him for a few days that week, where his mom filled him up with a much good food as she could.

I sent you a private message about housing of UW. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Portal Question

Quick question for those that have not been notified about a Marine option scholarship yet, what do your online portals say? Thanks!

Application has been submitted online
Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection

Noodlersdad's son rec'd a MO scholarship to OU already (same first place school as my son's), so we're doubting any more go out in our district. I don't think it's a rolling notification, but would love to be surprised.

navymomwannabe,

per Bronco's question, did your DS's scholarship status show up on his NROTC MO portal? Or did you hear in another way? Or both?

We're in the 1st Recruiting District, and I haven't heard of any decisions in that region.

Anyone?

DS's status changed on the portal and was called by the OSO (?) at about the same time. He said he had just logged on to check and saw the change when the call came in. He had checked earlier in the day and it had not changed by then. This was last Friday afternoon for the Marine Option NROTC.

Roseville, DS got a NROTC scholarship (not Marine option although now I think he'd rather be a marine...but he didn't know that back in Sept). He was emailed and told to check his portal.

good luck!

Well, your DS will just have to get in to USNA & go Marine Option from there :thumb:

Yeah, that would be easier than trying to switch the scholarship next year ....we're still waiting but moving forward with this great opportunity.

and so ends the 2014 season. Son got the call today...not the one we were hoping for...

For District 4, all awardees (and not awardees) should have learned today their status.

So...onward and upwards...on to the College Program route and a second swing at the plate after his first freshman semester.

Sorry about the bad news. Good luck on the sideload. Wouldn't hurt to impress the hell out of them outta the gate by "acing" the PFT! :thumb:

Have no fear, USMC dad. I applied to the academy my senior year and was rejected. I applied for the NROTC scholarship half way through my freshman year of college and got a 4-year Tier 3 scholarship. It'll be fine, just don't allow yourself to be discouraged! It motivated me to work harder in all walks of life.

Hey SAF,

I'm new to this forum but I've been following it for awhile. I've been emailed by NSTC that I've been awarded a national NROTC scholarship but I'm not sure if I actually did. This might be a generic email, as I was awarded an NROTC FCB (minority) scholarship, but I also applied for the national NROTC scholarship. It's possible this email is for the FCB.

Any thoughts? I would like to know. The portal hasn't updated so I am unsure. I will try calling tomorrow.

Where is there a number to call? We have been waiting for months literally, no email, no status change on the portal, and no one at the state or college level knows what the delay is. Waiting to decide if it is NAPS, ROTC, or other scholarship options.
