I was informed yesterday that I received the four year scholarship, and found out today it was to my number one choice Embry riddle !

I just had a few questions hopefully someone could answer...

As far as the medical examination is concerned, does the dodmerb examination I did for the naval academy count towards nrotc as well?

Also how strict is the choice of major on my scholarship?

I can definately tell you the USMC doesn't care what your major will be

Regarding the physical, I believe you have to retake but there are definately folks on here that can tell you for sure

    Congratulations!

They will not have you re-do the DoDMERB exam, however if you needed any waiver, that will be re-processed through their NROTC personnel.

All DoDMERB does is qualify or dis-qualify, the source is in charge of waiving. DoDMERB exams are valid for 2 yrs., thus they just send that info over to the other source.

If you think about it, it would be too costly to have kids re-take the exam because it is not uncommon that many will apply for multiple SAs and ROTC scholarships.

    Thanks for the clarification Pima.

I have to admit that I thought it was some bureaucratic governmental inefficiency where no branch spoke to the other. Glad to hear the DOD hasn't figured out how to complicate this process too much.

As a Marine Option they will not care about your major, at least that was true 2 years ago. However, you still need "permission" to change it and you must still graduate in 4 years, so you cannot change it willy-nilly. You will find that each semester you will complete a plan showing the courses you plan to take each semester through your 4 years of college and once you start down one path it can be difficult to change paths and still graduate in 4 years... but you'll have the opportunity to show them how you plan to do it if it comes to that.

Great point kinnem. Very true. My DS has to review his 4-year plan with his PMO every semester. DS changed majors after three semesters and had to "have permission." The response he received (per my son): "Approved as long as you complete in the alloted 4 years (8 semesters)" It was kind of a no brainer but your point is a good one. I guess there was an approval process.

Thanks for the clarity on the situation.

Thank you very much. I'm just kind of nervous on the difficulties of aerospace engineering. I don't want my scholarship pulled because of grades
