I am currently applying for a NROTC Marine option scholarship, and I am wondering if I should use my ASVAB scores or SAT scores. I scored a 96 on the ASVAB/AFQT, but only did mediocre on the SAT, scoring a 1650. I have taken the SAT again recently but have not received my new scores yet, but I don't think I did much better. Should I use my ASVAB or SAT scores?

The board would look at college scores such as the ACT or SAT, but not ASVAB.

1kayani10: Are you working with a recruiter or OSO? This would be a good question for them. I have a fair amount of experience in the NROTC MO process but have to admit I have never encountered your question before.

I would have bet the ASVAB was not applicable but you state it is. So my second position would be that this may put you at a disadvantage to those who take the "typical" tests (SAT or ACT)

One thing to note is that the SAT and ACT test knowledge/ intelligence differently. Many times, students find they score poorly on one and much better on the other. You may want to consider taking the ACT and see how it goes.

Best of luck!
