NROTC-Marine Scholarship-Medical Insurance

My son is a freshman at USC with a Marine NROTC scholarship. He is on our private medical insurance. With our insurance rates going up each year I am always looking for ways to reduce our premium. Does he have any medical insurance with his NROTC scholarship? Thanks for any information you can provide.
 
No, he does not qualify for Tricare until he is commissioned.
 
I believe we have insurance when we go on CORTRAMID during the summer because I think we are on active duty then. But Centhea is correct we are not covered by the government during the school year
