I recently submitted my application for Marine Corps Option. I contacted the recruiting officer and he told me that the PFT and interview will be in August. For my application to be complete I will need letter of recommendations. None of the three emails I provided for my LOR and transcripts have been contacted (it's been about 2 weeks). I am wondering if this is normal or if I should call and make sure everything got through okay?

Could be a couple of things...

Make sure the officials you request your transcript didn't get the request forwarded to their spam folder.

We also ran into issues with school officials (counselors) being on vacation and not checking email.

In any event, followup with the folks you asked for references, etc. and make sure they got the emails.

I just checked my DS's paperwork from 2011 (so my source is dated) but the instructions at that time advise the applicant to send the name, school mailing address, phone number and email address for each reference.

I agree with rocatlin that these folks should check their SPAM folders but I also wonder if they might have US Mail waiting for them at your school?

References

We had a different experience in 2012. In addition to listing his references on the application online, my DS was given hard copies of reference forms that he hand delivered to his references. They completed the forms and DS included them with the paperwork that he submitted back to his coordinator at the recruiting office.

Last year for my son, he just sent in the name and email address (like the USNA application). It's probably the same type of form the Academy uses. He did actually get to look at a hard copy of the results and it was a radio button type of form.

Belt & suspenders approach

we did the same last year for DD

we:

1. alerted all references to be on watch out & check spam
2. gave the 12th District R.O.'s email so they could email him their reference if the system did not get to them before they went on vacation
3. we also asked, politely, for sealed envelope letters of recommendation that we could forward just-in-case

Slightly off topic but all references had deep connections to the Corps thus they 'knew the drill' … I am not sure that made the positive difference but do feel it helped them understand the urgency of getting these written well and in early

Ditto

+1 VMI82...

In addition to what has been said...

The head of the IT department at my sons school had to get involved. Because of the conflicting security systems the source email was not getting through. Once that was taken care of there were no issues.

I checked up with my teacher and coach and they both looked in there spam- nothing. Must be an IT problem. Does anyone know who I should contact to fix this?

!! YES !!

Contact the head of your schools IT department. Your IT dept head may ask to get in touch with someone from the Academy. Because of the different security block that both schools have in their system they need to discuss it among themselves. Once they start talking the problem should get resolved quick. The IT head at my sons school takes this stuff very serious, he had it fixed in a day.

Ask you department head to follow-up with you once he has the problem resolved.

Good luck, I hope this is helpful!
