Fellow Parents,

As my son waits for the final hurdle (getting the gym teacher to agree to do the fitness test), I'm reflecting on the bumps in the road.
1. Some high schools won't rank their students - this took time to sort out
2. Recruiters don't always get back as quickly as one might want
3. The NROTC website can be glitchy

DS started the process in July (shortly after it opened) and is still only almost done. He might miss the first board, and who knows how many applications are already in. If I have any advice (and I'm no expert), it is to do as much as one can, when one can, and not assume smooth sailing. I think DS is a great candidate (straight A's in AP classes, 1600 SATs, captain of the wrestling team, 100+ hours of community service, founder of his school's model U.N.), but he is also a tier 3 applicant, so it is a roll of the dice and he wishes that his package were complete.

Good luck to all!

Your son sounds like a great applicant! The Netfocus site was down today for maintenance. Has your son sent his high school transcripts to NROTC yet? My school says they sent my transcripts in two weeks ago, but it has yet to reflect that on my portal. Good luck to your son!
