Hello,

DS just received the NROTC scholarhip and I have quick question. The online status mentions the following:
You will be notified in writing of your selection status approximately two weeks after the information is posted on this web site. The letter includes a questionnaire which must be returned immediately. The award of the scholarship is contingent upon meeting all the requirements listed in the notification letter, including being found medically qualified or waived for the NROTC Program.

If you have already received this letter would you mind sharing what the "requirements" are for this scholarship? It is the eleventh hour and would hate to have any surprises at this point.

DS was very excited by getting this after getting the TWE's two days in a row last week from USNA and USAFA.

Thanks in advance for an help you can give us! :thumb:

My son recieved the Marine Option NROTC scholarship in March. The only requirements in the letter are to get medically qualified (vision and physical) and to return the questionair by a certain date....Once you recieve the letter in the mail it tells you exactly how to go about the process. You must use the Dodmets.com site (the letter tells you how to log in) to schedule your appointments and use the medical providers that they find. If your son wears contacts, they need to be removed 3-4 days before the vision exam. So far, it's been pretty easy.

Good luck to you and congratulations!

Congrats!

Congrats to your DS! I haven't seen anyone post the receipt of a NROTC scholarship in awhile so it is so nice to see they are still awarding them!

Congratulations to your son WardNC! No doubt a pick me up for him.

I'm confused, wasn't DodMERB part of the application package though? I'm just curious since my kiddo had to have everything complete, medical/vision included, in order to submit the package last Aug.

Again, congratulations to you and your Mid-To-Be!

It wasn't for us but that's great if it's already done! You aren't confusing physical with the PFT? Where he did all the running, sit ups, etc.? Probably not. With DodMerb you have a log in and check your status and wait for it to say he is medically qualified or not. If not he needs a waiver. Congrats!

If your son applied to academy that is what set DODMERB in motion- but it is same DODMERB that NROTC will use.
NROTC has different criteria - dont ask me whats different, but on his DODMERB page you should soon see another catagory - NROTC - and below will indentify what his status is with them
For those that apply to just a NROTC, ROTC - they MAY NOT HAve started the DODMERB process - so that;s where that condition would apply.
As I recall, since my son had had DODMERB the summer before for USNA, when his NROTC award came in Nov all he had to do was sign the acceptance and return to FL within 30 days of receipt. As I recall only place he had to send his final grades was to college he was to attend.
I hope this helps - congratulations larrys mom

THANKS!!!!

Thanks everyone for the replies and information!

DS has gone through the Dodmerb for the academies so that is one less thing we have to worry about. So now we can wait for the letter in peace

DS thanks you for the well wishes.

Good luck to everyone!
