Check you NROTC scholarship status page! DD received a 4 year Navy option to her first choice school!

Congrats!

And the Xmas tree is now officially lit for NROTC selection!:shake:

Congrats Alaska...just checked my DS's account which has been "board ready" for some time. Same message that has been there for a month..no decision :-(.

SGTLee: I seem to remember these updates coming out in batches (probably how the updates are loaded into the system). Anyway, continue to check for a while - you may get some good news...

Congrats Alaska66. Now the hard part begins! Remind DD to keep her nose clean and avoid bad choices! Stay in good shape until she finally gets to college. Money doesn't start to flow until she passes the PFA there. Exciting times ahead for all of you!!! Woohoo! :thumb:

SGTLee, I agree with USMC regarding it coming out in batches.
~ Yes, the bulk do come out on one day, but some drip out for a couple of days. Remember that Monday is a Federal holiday, and that may mean the drip might extend until! Tuesday.

Also, before concern occurs, wait to see how much this thread lights up. If it is a few than the spigot is still opening up and many rewarded maybe the perfect match, that without a doubt would be awarded a scholarship to their school choices/intended majors
~ I.E. they placed more safeties and matches than reaches.
~~ Your DS may have placed more reaches and less matches, with no safeties.

Do not read anything into it. The real light up tends to occur between Thanksgiving and Christmas....kind of like college early decisions.

+1 to Pima,
These results are from what was technically the first board.
People with 1500+ SAT, 3.9+UW GPA, high PFA, tier one major, and lots of leadership get selected and placed. This is a very small pool.
Don't get discouraged, focus on getting accepted to your schools and have a plan B and C.

Kinnem....shame on you!

You forgot the all important piece of advice!

Bubble wrap!

Alaska, I am assuming that you live in Alaska, and partake in winter sports, such as skiing, skating, and snowmobiling. If so, let her have fun, but remind her that hotdogging/showing off can result in a broken bone which could be a DoDMERB issue if it is a bad break. Thus, scholarship can be revoked.
~ Years ago there was a poster that their child decided to ride a sled while being pulled...guess what happened? They broke their collar bone which required pins to be set. They had to deal with DoDMERB and it took them 6 months to get an all clear! This happened in Feb/Mar. School started in Aug. They didn't know when they entered if they would get a waiver.

Just saying food for thought!

Let them enjoy life, just dont let them be dumb while they enjoy it!

Again Congrats! Tonight go out to dinner and make memories because in a year from now that stupid joke told over dinner will be the best memory ever to you and her! You can't turn back time to create memories while you at wishing your life away for dreams of what life will be like in the future.

Sorry for being sappy...back to :groupwave::groupwave:

Son received notification via e-mail and on portal that he received
4 year scholarship to his first choice school! So happy!!!

Alaska66: Thanks for the heads up regarding first board notifications. My DS also received good news this afternoon, and it was to his first choice school. He met all of Oldsalt's criterea regarding very high SAT, GPA, etc., so that advice seems to be right on the mark! Thanks to all the veteran posters who provide valuable info and insight to newbies like myself!

Start gathering medical records

For those of you who have been notified you earned your scholarship congratulations. :thumb:

Take some time, enjoy and celebrate.

Now is the time to start gathering medical records. If you have had medical issues in the past you will need to be able to articulate specifics. Gathering these records sooner rather than later will help you deal with remedials and (hopefully not) the dreaded DQ. Good Luck

:worship::worship: Sheriff.

Believe it or not DoDMERB can be a huge hiccup!

I don't have enough fingers and toes or dog toenails in my house when it comes to how kids never thought an inhaler prescribed as a sophomore would start the remedial/waiver process. Or how a nut/shellfish allergy could DQ them. Worse yet, the ones that thought their children had perfect vision and never took them to an optometrist, only to learn they have vision color deficiency!

It happens a lot. Not trying to scare anyone, just trying to reinforce sheriffs post. If you know after the age of 13 they had to take long term prescriptions than be prepared to prove why it won't be an issue.

Thanks Pima

I appreciate the feedback and to be candid, my DS is a tad shy on the high numbers but is super high on PFT, STEM major, leadership, 4 years Sea Cadets, team capt., varsity letter (3yrs), class officer, etc. etc... Sounds like the second half of the process is where he might, if at all, fare better..

SGTLee, I agree with USMC regarding it coming out in batches.

Congrats!!! That is fantastic news for you and yours.
DS is still at,

"Application has been submitted online Your electronic application has been received and is being processed ...
Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination. Selection decisions will begin in late August and continue until the end of April. Once a selection decision has been made, your new status will be reflected."

Wonder when the next step comes (but assume it isn't this month).

scholarship

My DD also received notification of scholarship today. She had all of the stats mentioned and aced the physical fitness test. She is a cross country and track runner which definitely helped her max the mile and sit-ups. We are so happy. Good luck to all!

Congrats to all! It has been an exciting few weeks for DD. In addition to the NROTC scholarship, she received an LOA a few weeks ago to USCGA (recruited athlete). All her application is complete for USCGA and DoDMERB is qualified.

This is our second time through the process, as our older DD received an NROTC scholarship in October a few years ago. She then received an appointment to USCGA in January and is now a 3/c at USCGA.

Pima and Kinnem, thanks for the reminders about walking the straight and narrow and bubble wrap! Very important pieces of advice for all!
