Hi. I am currently a junior and I just completed my sophmore year. I am interested in applying to USNA and apply for a ROTC scholarship as my back up plan. What is the timeline for the application process. When should I apply for the scholarship online? What happens after I sent my application? Do I have to receive a congressional nomination? Please answer my questions? Thank you in advance!

The scholarship will open in the spring of your junior year, around the same time you will start your USNA app. Once you send in the app you will have recs to get, test scores sat act to send and transcripts as well. If you get a candidate number for the Academy you will set up your DODMERB physical which will count for the scholarship as well. An interview will be set up and then you sit and wait. My son's app was finished in August and he was awarded the scholarship in February. It could be sooner or even later. No noms needed for the scholarship.
