Don't know how many of you have heard but the Navy seems to be getting rid of the Khaki uniforms. Several months ago they came out with a blue-grey camo, and recently they came out with a new, marine-type camo. Do any of you know if NROTC is also going along with the uniform change? Typically NROTC uses the summer whites, dressy blues, and khakis. Will they be replacing the khakis with camos?

    Thanks for your response

I remember reading somewhere that only SPECWAR and sailors in certain locations could wear the desert version of the camo. I haven't heard of the Navy getting rid of khakis... The blue camo (NWU) replaces the old working uniform.

Do NROTC students wear the blue camo? I thought they only had the whites, khakis, and dress blues.

All of the NROTC midshipman that I have seen wear the old woodland BDU. So do the Marine contracts until they go to OCS. That being said, they could switch to the blue camo at some point. But I really don't know.

DS has the blue camou which was issued for CORTRAMID. Green BDU style was issued for O-Week and Marine Week of CORTRAMID.

My son was a 4C Mid (Marine option) last year at RPI and was allowed to buy his desert camo to wear on campus. It probably varies from school to school.

I'm a new 4/C MIDN at Penn State and we had Freshman Orientation training this week. During this week we were given our khakis and learned the only other uniforms we would be given were SDBs and Whites. I'm a Marine Option and they told us we would be getting more equipment, like boots and camis, than Navy Options. I hadn't heard of the blue-gray camo.

Just to clarify: the Navy is NOT getting rid of khakis. The new Naval Working Uniform aka NWU aka blue cammies are just that, a working uniform. What they are replacing is the khaki uniform worn while underway or during times you would wear a "working" uniform. This is not replacing the poly/wool Khaki uniform that most officers wear around the base.
