As far as the NROTC college admission requirements, it appears my ds is qualified. He is interested in International relations/ economics/ affairs or political science/ history majors. He is a white male. What I am curious about is this: If he were wanting to go to a prestigious school with a NROTC program- How do the admissions of a particular school mesh with the NROTC admission?
USNA is his top choice, but working on a plan B.....

Acceptance to the school and to the NROTC unit are not dependent on one another. Your child can gain admission to the University and not get selected for scholarship, and vice versa. Hope this helps.

Based on the interests you listed for your son/daughter, you should check into the LREC option. (Language, regional expertise, and culture.) This is only a very small portion - less than 15% - of the total NROTC scholarships awarded, but the interests and choices of college major seem to match.
