NROTC

This was just the best Thanksgiving Day ever. We checked the website yet again (as we do just about daily), and our son's status finally changed to:

"Selection Status

Congratulations!
You have been selected for a 4-yr Navy Option scholarship.
You are assigned to the NROTC Unit at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

You will be notified in writing of your selection status approximately two weeks after the information is posted on this web site. The letter includes a questionnaire which must be returned immediately. The award of the scholarship is contingent upon meeting all the requirements listed in the notification letter, including being found medically qualified or waived for the NROTC Program."

For whatever reason, our son's SAT and ACT test scores are still not current. It seems the information is not necessarily entered even when you provide updated information. Hope this gives some comfort to anyone in the same situation.

Thank you, Aglages. The entire family was literally balling when we read the words.

Now he just needs to apply to Tech. I'm hoping admissions takes into consideration his scholarship. Of course, everyone tell us he has "nothing to worry about," but until I see the word "accepted" in print, I'll worry.

Congrats! I am going for the NROTC Navy Option also and I was wondering if you could tell me when your son submitted his completed application? I am trying to gauge my wait time ha.

We were thrilled to see this message on Wednesday as well. A&M has 25 Navy scholarships each year. Daughter is on her way to the moon! Not quite over the moon, because she has a MOC interview for the Naval Academy appointment coming up on Saturday.

Congratulations! If you have any questions about being a cadet at A&M, let me know. My son is currently a freshman in the Corps there (Army scholarship). Gig 'em Aggies!

Thank you, Averx. My son submitted his on-line application in early July. First board review was August and at least 2 more after that, but we'll never know which one accepted him.

Congratulations CronusMom to your son! It is a great accomplishment and I am sure you are very thrilled that he has been selected.

We are still waiting to hear something. Son's application/interview was done in August, on-line status page has changed several times, but no selection as of yet. He, too, had VT as one of his choices, but Texas A&M Galveston, Maritime College, was his first.

Good luck to your son at VT!

J Bowman 55 Can you tell me when you got your application submitted? We are anxiously waiting to hear something, current status is "no decision" and it has been like that for a couple of months. We submitted his applcation July 24th. We submitted his Apply Texas application to A&M CS and TAMUG and have gotten the Congrats from TAMUG we are in there, but keeping fingers crossed for College Station AND for the Scholarship.

I checked DODMERB site again today and it know reads like this:
Agency: ' US Navy ROTC

New Q or you will get a call from your recruiter first.
I haven't notified my D of my findings on the DODMERB site only through this great site was I able to figure out the DODMERB site updates your status and clues you in on your admission status to any of the SA. I hope she is notified soon she is starting to get antsy. Only notification was a deferral from CGA.

As I'm writing this the mail came and I think its an offer from her safe school (Rutger NJ) this should keep her for a day or two. Good Luck to all!!

NROTC update

YAA! Big Yellow envelope arrived in the mail today. She received a tier 2 scholarship to Duke. I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions to post on the site but for right know we will continue to dance around the house little a bunch of crazy people. :yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: Good luck to those still waiting.

Congrats to your daughter, LadderdaddyO! I have a nephew who's in the NROTC program at Duke and loves it! Our son received the big envelope today, too - Tier 1 scholarship to Rice!

Must be the day for the mail

My son also got his offer in the mail today, even though the Website said "No descision". He got his DODMERB packet in the mail earlier in the week.
He got his 2nd choice school. Its going to be a Great Christmas:thumb:

Congratulations, everyone!!!!!

We called Pensacola last Monday since it had been over 2 weeks since we heard about his scholarship and were told the envelopes were "in the mail." We are still awaiting delivery, and it's driving us all nuts. We were hit with a HUGE blizzard (Maryland) this past weekend, so we think his envelope is probably at the post office. We've been stalking our mail lady for a while, but I doubt she'll make it down our unplowed street even today.

Snow, snow go away,
We need that shcolarship letter today!!!!!
