Do you have a final Count Objee?
 
I don't think the bear is hibernating, just buried under file after file.

I finally saw the videos on the How Stuff Works website and found myself completely engrossed in the one video where the Navy admissions was deciding on their applicants. Do any of you remember the rectangular blocks with one side red and the other green? Someone would read the information in the file, and depending on what each member of the board thought, he/she would flip their block to red side or green side. Just fascinating. While watching this, my son and I kept rewinding to try to see more of how they do all the deciding.

We watched them all, so I don't remember exactly which it is, but I think it's in the 47 minute video called, Surviving The First Year: Life In A Military Academy.

Alternate Status

Does anyone know if applicants could already be put on the alternate list if the appointment list is not complete?

Or, would that be the status given if they were rolled from EA to RA?

Hi everyone. I'm very new to this site, so please "bear" with me...no pun intended... My son just checked his DoDMERB status. It was changed to alternate. Can anyone fill us in on what that means?

I don't think we have a "final count" just yet, but RA will be close to 1,200 applicants...added to the 975 applicants from EA, this class has the largest applicant pool reviewed by the CCEB in the last 20 years.
 
Hi - just wondering if the apps are processed in order they are received and if my son's was sent in Nov. (right after the early decision deadline, drat) and we have still not heard anything, is all hope lost? CGA is his first choice above all and the agony of having to pay dorm fees etc. at second choice schools is awful.

No, many appointments will be coming out between now and April 15th. Hang in there.
 
March 17th is not late in the game. The game is just about to begin. Most will receive notification between now and April 15th. Don't think it's too late, there are many cadets and grads who can tell you they didn't receive their appointment until April or even early May :thumb: Keep the faith.

What happens if you accept an appointment with another academy because you had to by May 1st and another appointment comes in later and you would rather go to the later appointed academy?
 
Accept and reject

You simply notify the earlier "accepted" academy that you will not be attending (decline) and accept the more recent (desired) appointment. It happens!!

Tell them no and wait for the later. Just kidding you can accept all but the day you show up at your final destination the others are rescinded or canceled. Not the desired way to do it and somewhat less honorable to hang on to appointments you may not want in lieu of another (especiallyif you were wait listed by your 1st choice) but no one would fault you for sending a declination in after your get the desired appointment. Just make sure you get it in in time for another who might have been waitlisted to get the slot you decline. Good luck!:thumb:
