Obsessive CIS/Forum Check?

USNA could simply add a column to their database table that acts as a counter and wouldn't have to data mine logs -- but as others have mentioned, that is not being done (yet). Logs, at some point, will be overwritten and that periodicity depends on the amount of memory on which the log is stored.

If the NROTC portal keeps track of how frequently you log in, and send notices that your log in credentials will be suspended if you wait longer than 30 days, then why wouldn't...

Not sure if this will help but it seemed like most changes were early in the morning (I'm on the West Coast), so if you can bear it maybe just check in the mornings...or mornings and end of the day. Now that the wait is over I check the forum way too much...
I agree, Both of my recent changes in application status occurred in the 8-930 AM Range (Buffalo, NY -EST) so I'd just check around that time daily because I wasted a lot of time checking at 11 PM and then again at 1130 PM or various other unlikely times for the Admissions Office to be sending out information.

I am in same boat always checking 3-5x a day! My status is still, completed pending review. I guess, no news is good news. Good luck to everyone else still on the roller coaster, the Intimidator, Titan, Fury or the Kinda Ka. Strap yourself in and try to enjoy the ride. Been on all but this ride is the most nerve racking of all lol.

I've been checking here and in my candidate group. In this day of instant access to information, the wait pales in comparison to Plebe Summer.

Hi everyone. Unfortunately over the past two weeks I found a distraction but not the type I was looking for. You know what they say, "Beware the Ides of March"? Well, my mom was diagnosed with malignant melanoma (skin cancer) but in a rather aggressive area of her face. We will find out later this week exactly how bad but she will require quite a bit of surgery. As an only child, I am scared to death for her. And then there was today... I will no longer obsessively stalk the portal. My daughter received the dreaded email this morning. I have to say, I am more proud of how she has handled this disappointment than any of her successes during the course of her lifetime. While she was very sad (distraught at first), I opened my FB during the class I was in to read a post she made on the USNA candidates board and I was completely taken aback. She is handling this much better than I thought and am proud to say that she will be accepting her NROTC scholarhip as part of the Notre Dame Battalion next year. She has been accepted to Saint Mary's College (small women's college) and is still awaiting decision from Notre Dame. But, no matter what, she will be serving her country at a school that means a great deal to her. So, with that, I want to wish you and your candidates the very, very best. I have the utmost respect for these kids and look forward to celebrating with each of you as you hopefully post some good news! In the end, this Class of 2020 will be defending their country together in the fleet soon enough and what amazing kids we have. Take care all... good luck, Don't give up the Ship, and Beat Army!

I have met many fine ND Navy and Marine officers over the years - no disappointment there. And, there is a lot of history behind ND and USNA relationship regarding the annual football game. Look it up!

She will be just fine.

Thank you Capt MJ! Yes, in her mind, there were only two brigades that she wanted to be part of: either the USNA or the ND brigade! We have attended a number of ND/Navy games in my lifetime. My father served in the Navy and has been a lifelong ND fan. He chooses who he cheers for based on who is at home. However, he will always wear either an ND sweatshirt with his Navy hat... or vice versa! He confuses everyone he meets. It's a great rivalry but also a great bond. I love the respect between the schools therefore I know she can't go wrong. Thanks again!

I am very sorry to hear about your mother. I am still pending review. Plan C is also for a NROTC scholarship I received to Notre Dame. There is a possibility we could meet in person some day! Best of luck and way to stay positive for her and your futures.

Best of luck!

Hi everyone,
It's me, checking back in. I hope everyone is well and that your candidates are still hanging in there! Any day without one of THOSE emails is a great day. Just a little update since you all were so supportive over the past few weeks:
(1) My mom: Mom had surgery last week to remove malignant melanoma from her face. After 26 stitches and an incision from just below her eye down to under her chin, the doctor hopes she got it all but this Thursday's appointment for a followup will tell us a lot. Overall, mom is feeling ok about everything and as a daughter, that's all I can hope for. It was a bit of a bummer birthday for her, however. But, if all works out, she will hopefully have a much better birthday next year.
(2) My daughter: I know the last thing any of our candidates wants to hear is that there is a better place for them if they have faith and trust. That was the last thing my daughter wanted to hear last week. Lots of tears, lots of frustration, and lots of feelings of failure. So, she went to accepted student day at Saint Mary's College this weekend to see if it would be as good of a fit as she initially thought. We took some time to discuss the dual major (physics with applied mathematics and aerospace engineering with Notre Dame) with her advisor, and discussed the ROTC element. Within an hour of being on campus she was over the moon to say that she is "Officially SMC 2020!" And for me, I am thrilled that she can say that because I too was officially SMC back in the day. She will be rooming with a Marine option ROTC student and they have already begun planning their workouts to get ready. All in all, everything has worked out perfectly and I don't think anyone could be happier.
Thank you all for your support and friendship! While I will be leaving this board soon, I just want to wish all of you and your candidates well! Don't give up the ship!!!

Awesome news really on all fronts. Will continue to pray for your mom.

Thank you so much.... we actually just received some great news from her surgeon that the biopsy showed no cancer. So, all of the prayers really helped! Life is good. :)
Very glad to see this news re your mom and also to see how DD has adjusted. Good luck to you as she starts this new adventure and I hope your mom heals quickly and well.

If you think an obsession with checking this forum is bad, you may be in for a surprise come plebe summer when the real obsession with looking through thousands of photos for your mid sets in, and they all where the same uniform and have the same haircuts.

So happy to hear this great news! Praying for your mom's swift recovery. Y'all should throw her a Happy Half-Birthday when she's all healed. Best of luck to your DD.
