Official Candidate Letter

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know when the official candidate letters for the class of 2020 will go out? Also when will the candidate portal be opened? I'd greatly appreciate any information!
 
I heard some people got them today. Keep an eye out for yours; it will probably come soon.
 
Last year, DS rec'd his first week of June.
 
@JD7 Your official candidate letter will include the log-in for the candidate portal
 
Received mine today. To any other reapplicants - does the portal have the slot for College Transcript open for submission or just High School Transcript?
 
My DS just received his official candidate letter. He had applied for the summer program but did not get accepted. Is that what would have prompted him receiving the candidate letter and does the letter mean he has a good chance of getting accepted or does everyone who requests information receive one. Thanks.
 
Based on information provided by your DS in his summer application program, USNA has deemed him to meet the minimum requirements required to become an official candidate and open the portal for him to begin his formal application-which has many steps.

No one on this forum can tell you if your DS has a good chance of getting accepted or not-only the admissions board makes that determination and there are several qualifications that need to be met in order to be considered fully qualified to compete for an offer of appointment.

Some outstanding candidates may be offered letters of assurance, or even receive early appointments but the majority come after the application closes in Dec.

It's a great journey and you and your DS will learn more than you can imagine going through it.

Complete application steps EARLY, put together the BEST package you can and work hard to make yourself stand out. Navy has to want you as much as you want them.
 
I got mine today on a Sunday... I guess the mail does really deliver on a Sunday.
 
My DS got an email on Friday....still waiting on the mailed letter. He will be attending Summer Seminar session 2.
 
I was accepted and will be attending NASS session 2, but still haven't recieved my official candidate letter. I also got an email regarding NASS a couple of days ago but nothing on the official candidate letter. Should I be expecting it sometime in the next couple of weeks?
 
At NASS last year we were told than anyone accepted to NASS was an official candidate. Also, at the end, we were given our candidate number along with portal access instructions. I do remember also getting an official candidate letter once I got back from NASS. The PFE was already filled in the first time I logged into my portal.
