My DS made it into NASS this summer but has yet to receive his official candidate letter. Should he have receive the letter by now and if so should he call admissions to follow-up?

Iwas talking to an admissions rep and they said we should be receiving our letters on/around June 1st. Can anyone else confirm/deny?

You'll get it sometime soon. I remember being able to log onto CIS and start working right after NASS Session I ended.

We were told they go out this week via snail mail

There was a post from Admissions on their Facebook page that the letters will start going out this week.

Ahhh

Thank you rocatlin... My DS is so busy with his studies and sport there is no time for him to get on facebook. I'll tell him to get on and look for that information. Good stuff!!

Update from Admissions Facebook Page

Update from Admissions Facebook Page on 14 May.

"Class of 2018 applicants: candidate packets were supposed to be mailed out this afternoon, but due to unforeseen circumstances, they may not be mailed until the end of the week. We will update you as soon as the packets have been mailed!"

Thank you...

rocatlin,

Once again thank you for the update... My DS was up until midnight getting ready for his AP exam and getting the remainder of his homework finished. There was no way he could get onto Facebook. I'll give him the heads up.

The Process

rocatlin,

Glad to hear the updates here. Our DD is swamped too and has not mentioned NASS or USNA recently...she is just too busy with trying to finish junior year and squeeze in the last of SAT and ACT testing this year. Facebook is not on the radar right now.
I suspect will not do a thing with the official application process until after NASS anyway as she is going to NASS (and USAFA ss) in part to see if she wants to pursue this.

The BGO told her to get everything possible done on the application the summer after junior year. Is that standard?

The consensus seems to be get the information in early, yet complete to best work into the rolling admissions process.

Things will start to pick up in a hurry after NASS.

will everyone who filled out the prelim/NASS application receive a letter telling them they are either going to be allowed to continue the application process or to try again?

I live in PA and I got an email from my Blue and Gold Officer saying I should get it either today or tomorrow. I don't know if this helps you!

From what I've read and understand, all those who received a candidate number in their email notice of acception/rejection from Summer Seminar will be receiving information on how to log into the Candidate Information System.

Someone inquired on the Admissions Facebook page. Evidently they didn't get them out like was first posted. The latest scuttlebutt is that they will be emailed and followed up with a mailed packet.

Latest post from the Admissions page...

Good morning everyone, candidate packets have still not been sent out. We are working on a technical issue and will let you know as soon as the issue has been resolved and the packets are sent.

DS had his applications to USNA, USMA and AROTC completed and submitted mid August. He was also able to complete DoDMERB physical in August. Only thing he had to do in September was BGO interview. DS was relieved he had those out of the way prior to school starting. He applied to his civilian schools in October. He also contacted MOCs offices in August for information on their applications. One of the benefits of getting things done early is a possible LOA or LOE!
