    Hi,

So the paperwork says to bring official h.s. transcripts. The school says they can mail them to whoever but they aren't allowed to give them to anyone. Counselor says that is standard policy at all the high schools.

What have others done about this?

At my school they give us the transcript inside an envelope with like a seal on the outside that says that if the seal is broken, the transcript is void. Your school should probably have something similar.

I also have a question: my last day of school is June 23rd, I leave June 24th. There will probably be some issue in trying to get that transcript in time. Has anyone else had/is having the same problem and what have they done/will do?

    Transcripts

The Appointee Handbook (page 12) says that you should have your high school school send your final transcript to the Academy, at the address given, as soon as possible after graduation. You do not have to hand carry transcripts to InProcessing. Have your school follow its usual procedure for sending transcripts to colleges.

now im not positive, but i heard that you can give them a preliminary transcript from the first semester and some kind of letter from the office explaining the situation, but possibly with a guarantee that you did well during second semester, or something along those lines. Not sure...anyone clarify? thanks...

My school also does not give us official transcripts, they are required to mail them. What I did however was ask my counselor for an unofficial copy that I can bring to I-day "just in case." But I'd say you're good.

Bombtrack: Not sure if you can contact someone to tell them about this. Maybe a letter from the principal stating you didn't fail any classes (assuming you didn't). Perhaps someone who went through this last year could help you out.

It is true that the school usually only sends the OFFICIAL transcript (It has an embossed raised seal) to the school and not to you personally. Have them do that. However, the school will usually give the students a "COPY" of the transcript (Without a raised seal). There is NOTHING against doing that. If the school questions that, simply ask to speak with the principle. Then, if they give it to you, bring a copy of that copy with you when you attend BCT. They'll get the OFFICIAL version eventually, but in case, they'll have your copy to work with. That is how our school did it. Don't argue with the counselor. SMOOZE (Spelling) them if you have to. If they are being dildos, then speak with the principle. Explain that this is the MILITARY you're dealing with and a) Things are crazy there. b) If they can trust you to train to protect your country, the school should be able to trust you. c) You're only asking for a COPY, and NOT the official transcript. Good luck. mike......

P.S. ANYTHING that you had to fill out, mail in, get signed, etc... in the appointee's packet; to include immunization records, security forms, medical records, eye prescription, etc.... WHEN I SAY ANYTHING, I MEAN ANYTHING!!!! Make sure you make a copy of EVERYTHING and leave a copy at home and bring a copy with you. If it was one of those "I mailed it to them"; I hope you made a copy BEFORE you mailed it. If you did, make a COPY of the COPY and bring one with you. I know first hand of basic cadets who have had to get ADDITIONAL immunizations, medical exams, numerous paperwork, etc... all because the academy didn't get, or couldn't find, the paper work that they supposedly had. It happened to my son in BCT. As they said they couldn't find things like immunizations, some basics were rolling up their sleeves. He simply started pulling paperwork out. He was covered for everything. I also suggest this for your ENTIRE MILITARY CAREER. if you have to SIGN IT; KEEP A COPY. Best of luck.... Mike.....

Being military, me, my son's medical records were at the base hospital. The base sent his medical records on to the academy. But just to be sure, I asked them to make a copy of his entire medical records; which he hand carried just in case. And of course, we made a complete copy of them to keep at home. Most doctors will keep your records in their files, but there's no reason that they wouldn't make a copy of it for you to take with you. later... mike....

No X-Rays are needed unless you've had a recent orthopedic problem, is what I was lead to understand.

Our registrar told my DD that she will not give final transcripts to her! I supplied the registrar with the address for the USCGA and the NMMI and gave her direction to send one transcript to each. and also to send a back up copy of the transcripts to our home..

I wrote a note and explained that DD must have a backup in case the one she sends is not received. I will find out later today how that worked out.... UGH...
