Official USAFAPS (Prep School) Class of 2013 Appointment thread

I wasn't there, but what I heard is that last year, Priors arrived a week earlier than the Direct Entry Cadet Candidate Appointees, most probably for an orientation on their involvement with BMT, among other things. Priors are arriving a week early this year as well (11 July), so I presume the program will continue.

Apparently, the P school got a new Commander last year, who decided to use the experience that Priors bring, having already been through Basic at Lackland, to "assist" the BMT instructors. You won't be "running" BMT, by any means, but expect to be called upon to "assist", if nothing more than to lead by example. Once BMT is over, all Cadet Candidates are treated the same.

I know that current Cadet Candidates sometimes peruse these forums, so I am hoping that someone will jump in with more information.

Ahhh, I see. Makes sense, I was wondering why we report a whole week earlier than the civilians do:confused: Now I kind of have an idea as to why we do!

By the evening of 18 July, all of you will be members of the Armed Services. Direct Entry Cadet Candidate Appointees (and LEAD Cadet Candidate Appointees coming from the Air Guard/Reserve) will become members of the Air Force Reserve.
 
I was notified that I was accepted into the Prep school yesterday. I am stationed at Little Rock AFB. I am also a recruited basketball player. So if we have any other basketball players floating around, don't hesitate to message me!

P school appointments

There should be nearly 4 times as many direct entry appointments to the P as there are
LEAD appointments. Wonder where they are?
 
Glad to see a few new names added! Congrats!

I'm curious though, will the prior-enlisted candidates need to seek nominations from their MOC? Or do their CC nomination carry over?

I'm originally from California, and I understand it is an extremely competitive process there.

I'm just a little nervous, haha.

LEAD candidates do not need additional nominations. (See the LEAD Handbook) Just do your best.
 
TWE from USAFA and Change of Status on Website

So, last week my Daughter's USAFA website changed to:

Application Status
Your Status: Candidate*
Appointment Status: Air Force Academy Prep School (offered Scholarship)

BUT, today she received a TWE from USAFA which doesn't say ANYTHING about Prep...

Does this mean she will be receiving BWE in the next couple of days for the PREP SCHOOL?

From what I've gathered, if you didn't receive it today, you'll probably receive it Monday. :smile:

The TWEs that USAFA have been sending out do not mention Prep.

Congratulations! Your DD will be going to Prep! :thumb: I believe Offer letters were mailed yesterday, 20 April, to Prep appointees. Look for it in the mail Monday or Tuesday. Not sure how big of a BFE it will be. It may just be a FWE (fat white envelope):biggrin:

Have all the civilian appointments for the Prep school already gone out or do you think their will be a second wave?
 
I think I may have posted on the wrong thread, but I received my packet for prep in the mail today!

I don't think they have. I have been informed that there are at least 40 more slots left (for the athletics department) to give out. Not sure about non-recruited though....
