Ohio Nominations

Just curious... You posted that you received an appointment to USNA on another thread... How did you receive that news? Would love to know how USNA is spreading the good news!! Thx!!

My DS has only received nominations; not an appointment yet. I double checked my recent posts and I couldn't find where I had used the wrong term. If I did, I apologize for my mistake. I posted under the USNA appointment thread that he received a Nom, and those posts are mostly Noms too. Please send me a private message pointing out where I erred and I'll do what I can to correct it.

My son is not the one that had the "Offer of Admission" that was another poster. You are correct he has two nominating sources, MOC and Presidential, which we are very excited about, but no appointment. This has been a roller coaster ride for sure, and after the MOC event the other night, we were feeling pretty discouraged about his chances. There were at least 2that already had LOA's for the academy and all of the kids seemed to have terrific qualifications.

We have not lost hope, but realistically feel we have to be prepared and ready with a good plan B. He really wants in, and will be trying again next year if it doesn't happen this year. We started the whole process a little late.

Congrats to your son. I can't imagine how hard it would be to be medically disqualified at the last minute. Talk about a roller coaster ride! Did he go to another college for the year?

Also CAmidparent, I sent you a PM

Sent you PM nukepharm

DD got a nomination from her MOC (OH -7) back in November.
She received a letter from Brown last week (no nomination because of MOC)
She received a letter from Portman yesterday (no nomination because of MOC)
She did have a LOA so she only needed 1 nomination and both of the Senator's letters referenced this fact.
So I would assume that there is at least some level of coordination between Ohio's senators & MOC offices.
Your daughter seems to be in the same position as my son. He received a MOC nomination early December and then letters from Portman and Brown saying no nomination because of MOC. He did receive nomination from Portman for USMA and he does have LOA to both USNA and USMA. He was told they will only give LOA candidate one nom per academy because that is all that is necessary and it gives others a greater chance. So it seems they coordinate with MOCS with LOA candidates. That being said, has your daughter received her appointment yet? If so, when? I assume they were off during break. My son is anxiously waiting! Congrats!
