Only 2 more days until Summer Seminar Invites come out!

I got accepted! Im also accepted to NASS but waiting to hear back from SLE :/

Congratulations! Your application has been reviewed by the USAFA Summer Seminar Program and we are happy to offer you a slot in this year's US Air Force Academy Summer Seminar program! To formally accept this offer, return to your application portal at:

I was not accepted unfortunately. Does anyone know if applying right before the deadline hurts your chances? My friend who I believe was a very competitive applicant was also declined and we both submitted right before the deadline.

Not sure if that matters.....my son applied at the end of December and was accepted.....

We applied the last day of January which was the deadline. I wouldn't really consider the end of December close to the deadline since applications opened December 1st and closed January 31st.

DS did not accepted to USAFA SS, but the 2020 candidate portal says "competitive"; he is awaiting NASS decision; but will be definitely going so USMA SLE (Session 2).

Congratulations to those who got accepted to USAFA SS, and hang in there to those who are awaiting decisions from USNA and USMA.

Mine says "competitive" too on the 2020 candidate portal as well and I was also not accepted. I honestly don't believe that that "competitive" means very much since they haven't even asked about our ECs yet. I think right not it's just a first-level weed out to separate the applicants who have extremely uncompetitive grades(ie 19 on ACT, 2.0 GPA, etc).

Im trying to stay positive and look for other camps i could do that may look good on my USAFA application.
in the USAFA email, they suggested two alternatives. a sports camp and an Engineering and Construction camp. my parents suggested the engineering camp and im looking up more info on it.

heres the link if anybody else is interested: http://samecamps.org/

DS #3 has been accepted...didn't think he would get in as his stats are not at the level of his older brother's (who by the way did not get accepted to the 2014 summer seminar but now is a C4C there prepping for recognition which begins on Thursday).

Keep working on the your whole package whether or not you have been selected. Our C4C is proof that the academy looks at the whole person and not just SAT/ACT scores.

Don't be discouraged if you weren't selected for SS. Its no indication of your chances for an appointment.

They like to pick a cross section of candidates to go.

Hey there. I am sorry you did not get accepted, please don't despair. I have to say it did not matter if you entered late. My DD did not click the submit button until almost midnight on the 30th of January and she was accepted. I agree with USAF83GradWif, they like a cross section and it does not help or hurt your chances of appointment. Look at some of the other camps that the academy offers and shoot for one of those. If you are interested, you should act now as I know some of those deadlines are fast approaching. Good luck and stay positive. Find something enriching and enlightening to do this summer that reflects the leader in you and submit your application to the academy. All is not lost.

Applying right at the deadline doesn't' matter- I finally submitted my summer application on the 31st ( the deadline) and I got in.

I applied the day it was due and I was accepted!

Can someone who attended SS last year explain how the workshops go? It appears they are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Do they overlap each other? It tells you to rank in order 1-9. How many workshops do you end up attending? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They want you to rank them, but my DD didn't get any she ranked as 1. That's ok, they're all very interesting. I forget how many she attended, but everyone attends once during each session. They're very organized that way.

The most interesting day, though, is the "Doolie for a day". You get a small taste (very small) of what its like.

Didn't get in but wasn't expecting to make it very much either. Congrats to everyone who's going!
