Their is another thread on this BB about how drastic a government budget cut might affect ROTC ascensions, potential active duty RIFs (reduction in force) and the inherent uncertainty that this provides for our college aged kids.

Exactly the reason I was so happy when my DS chose Kings Point last year. He's now home over Thanksgiving and as we discuss the future, he talks only positively about all the options that he has upon graduation. He still wants to fly, but then again that 3rd class engineering license will open tons of civilian doors if active duty possibilities are less than optimal. His Navy Reserve commission will allow him to serve and seek future opportunities to fly.

During this Thanksgiving, I give thanks for the JROTC instructor that told him to apply to MMA when all he was thinking about was AFA.
