Orientation 2013

What's a local favorite? I'm under the science of, no reason to eat at a chain if you don't have to.

"local favorites" for us tend to include the chains and then other places don't always have room. My personal favorite place to eat at is Noodles and Company which could hold the current numbers. Another is Rhumbi (Hawaiian/Asian type place).

As I recall, there was a continental type offering at the Academy in the morning - muffins, coffee, juice, but our hotel (Academy Hotel) had a decent buffet which was well run and we weren't late for anything.

Lunch that first day was somewhat disappointing: spaghetti. That's what I remember about it. We went through long lines to fill up small "chinette" type plates with spaghetti. Well, it was okay...

fencersmother; Question for you, or any parent that went on the walking tour on Tuesday for orientation. I am curious (I speak for my parents ) on what it went over, was it worth it, etc.

Well, for me at least, the 12th and 13th are over spring break, so it is a lot easier for my parents and myself to go out there without missing anything.

Just saw the other fencer twin tonight during majors night. About 5 min into talking with me about chemistry he suddenly realized I was hornetguy from the orientation dinner at Olive Garden! lol!

random question but, does anyone know if you have to bring someone to orientation??? do you have to bring a parent or guest cause i was planning on attending by myself...

You don't have to bring parents. However, the hotel you stay at must have some way of accommodating minors. I'm staying at the Best Western, and my dad just faxed a form (you have to request it) giving them permission to give lodging to a minor.

I asked USAFA about this myself. They said there should be a "none" under guests on the form, but it somehow got left out. Hopefully, they said, they'll have it fixed soon.

If you leave the number of guests section unanswered, as I did, it will appear as none on the final registration summary.
