PA District 11, how competitive are your areas? My Rep said that a total of 30 people apply for all academies.

I am also from PA district 6.!

Did you interview with Senator Casey and/or Senator Specter? Has anyone heard from them yet?

I did not apply to the senators and I'm not sure how competitive my district was. I received my nomination to USMMA like I wanted which is good. How competitive are your districts?

My district had about 50 people interviewed for USNA, USMA, and USAFA. However I would say that many people were there for USNA, maybe half or more? I didn't think that it was that intensely competitive in general unless you were applying for USNA (I did USMA and got the principal). I was extremely happy hearing back from them because I don't consider myself top-notch... I'm just a B average student, but am very involved with sports inside and outside of school and I think that helped. I brought my resume with me and my interview was more about talking about me rather than them drilling me with questions. Also, only 3 or 4 girls interviewed in my district (including me).

Hey... just another question if any of you know: How long does it take for your candidate page to reflect that you got the nomination? Its been about 2 weeks since I have heard and no word about it on my USMA page.

Hey, I'm from Pennsylvania's 3rd district. Received my nom for USAFA today. Pretty sure that there were about 30 people for all academies in my district. I was told that i would find out Specter's on Dec 18th, and Casey's the first week of January.

Really? Specter told me 3 weeks after the interview, which was Nov. 10th for me. But since I have not heard yet, I will take your word. My thoughts are that they are waiting to here from the congressional districts' nominees in order to prevent overlapping.
Do you think that the senators already have a list of candidates in mind, maybe ranked, and just waiting to see who already got nominated from the congressional districts? Because if not, I would find it hard to believe that they would remember everyone from the interviews.

    coffeecup,
Yeah that is a bit odd. I'm not sure why they would tell us different times. I mean I know for Specter we all interviewed at different places (Erie Office for me), and different times but the "when will I know" date should be the same because(now this is just my guess work) all of the score sheets from the interview, your GPA, EC's would be compiled and "racked and stacked" to plop out who the person with the best Whole Candidate Score is.

That's quite possible, that they're waiting to see how many off of their lists get nomination by House members, from what i've read on this forum every state and MOC is different. Some like to communicate (talking and trying to get as many different kids as possible) and others don't (this could mean that the Senators might sumbit almost identical slates to the Academy.

Hope my ramblings helped in some form or another :thumb::thumb:

How did your interview go? The panels were twice the size of the senator panels!

PA is very navy oriented (especially in the East), because we are right by a naval base. I know more than a few kids in my school applying for USNA.

My interview went well. I looked at the sign in sheet and people for mostly going for navy which is what I expected. The panels were bigger, but I thought they talked more about the service and academy and less typical questions like for the Senators' interviews. Do you know when we hear about Murphy's selections?

Also, for the Senators...our rep. will come out after Dec. 18th. So I am not sure they are just waiting to see what the reps. do.

Hi everyone, just been reading through these posts...I'm from PA 15th district which is in the east. I've done my interviews with my congressman and both Specter and Casey. I agree in my Casey interview the candidates were OVERWHELMINGLY going for USNA (unsettling since so am I ). Congressional panel was the biggest and most in depth. I wasn't told by any of them any exact dates, just that it would probably be in January some time.

DD received letter from PA 3rd district MOC ( Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper) this past week. Was very fortunate to be awarded Nomination to both USAFA and USMMA. DD was also surprised to learn MOC had submitted press release, complete with names, to local News Papers this past Friday.

PA Parent: Congrats to your daughter!

That's kind of cool about the press release, however I would personally be embarrassed if my MOC did that!

Most MOCs do submit a press release. However, for whatever reason, frequently the papers do not picked up the story.
