My DS called admissions today and was told his package was in the queue to be reviewed by the board. Does anyone know how long this takes? Do they go state by state? Do they meet daily? Thanks!

Doesn't that fit the description of all applications that haven't been reviewed by the board? My understanding is they meet once a week although that might change given the time of year. Anyone's guess as to order is just that.

Normally the Admissions Board meets more frequently at this time of year. Just because your DS's record is being reviewed soon doesn't increase the odds that you will hear soon.

On that note, please see what USNA Admissions is stating (directly from their Facebook page):
This is their nice way of saying, please stop calling us for status updates -- give us until April 1st! It is a busy time in Admissions between Admissions Boards, reviewing slates for appointments, selecting those for NASS, etc. Unless you REALLY need to call Admissions (i.e. updating your application, medical questions/issues, etc.), utilize your BGOs, and this board so that they can focus on their tasks and be more efficient.

My package has been in the queue for a while. They may make a determination (speculation please correct me if I'm wrong) but only notify you once they have offered an appointment.

That is pretty much the gist.

In general, once the decision has been made to extend an appointment, the notification is relatively quick (i.e. MOC phone call or even via snail mail). A turn down (i.e. rejection) letter is normally not sent out (for a majority) until April. Those who are 3Q and a decision isn't made or might be waiting on an offer based on class size (i.e. USNA waiting to hear back from candidates who accept/decline offers of appointment) are likely not to hear anything until later on.

At least for shipmates in my situation: the decision, whether positive or negative, will be sent out immediately following the final choice. (In my case it will be C.O. notification)

Just in case there are any other enlisted on the forums.

Does the BFE come in the regular mail? Also another question.. Do they go state by state or alphabetically when reviewing from national pool?

The National Pool is evaluated on merit -- IOW, candidates are chosen out of the pool in order of merit, not by state or slate or . . .

Think BFE comes via USPS but not sure.

My DS was told his profile was reviewed by the board and the board determined he would be best suited for NAPS. However, since he has a principal nomination the board will need to review it a second time. Any idea what the timing would be for this scenario?

It's reaching that point where we're all expecting a LWE or BFE any day now.

There was a slight mix up with my son's 7th semester grades and his BGO's communication with him, so we are hoping that was holding a decision up. Congressman called about an appointment the other day, but it was to another SA, so either way we are super proud and couldn't ask for more. It would be nice to know about USNA so he can move on.

I think it's way to early to Panic.According to the admissions Face Book page the bulk of the class is formed in feb. and March. I would say by the end of March if no BFE then We will be in panic mode here in this household. This is such a stressful time...trying so hard to be Patient.

S's BFE came via USPS Priority Mail, which was delivered sometime after our regular mail came that day.

This was 2010. He had an LOA. BFE arrived on January 30th.

Funny thing was, he received a letter from our MOC that day informing him of his nomination, which he already knew about by checking the USNA admissions portal online. MOC was a lame-duck.

Later that day, the BFE came via Priority Mail. Nomination and appointment on the same day.
