Packing List for SLE

So I got into the Annapolis sle (or sls I forget what it's called) and I'm looking through the packing lists and frankly I'm a little bit confused on all the stuff I have to bring.

Like the 10-12 pairs of undergarments, what exactly are they for because I thought they were already giving us 6 shirts. And then the compression shorts; I've never even heard of them before I saw the list.

I'm looking for some feedback from people who have attended the SLE thing before and can tell me whether or not I should bring this gear.

For future reference its USNA Summer Seminar, Im assuming you're also a USMA candidate because SLE is Army. I personally don't care about the difference in acronyms at this point, I just thought god forbid you tell a mid its SLE. Congrats on getting accepted to it bye the way!

In regards to compression shorts, I have no idea because I never went on the summer seminar however if the academy is recommending it, I guess its a good idea.

I went to summer seminar last year. Bring all the underwear and socks they tell you to, and then bring more. I changed mine at least twice a day- sometimes more. They'll get wet, sweaty, muddy, and just gross in general, and you don't want to be walking around in that. If I remember correctly, it also told you to bring something like 6 pairs of running shorts and sets of civilian clothes. We didn't wear them once. I'd still pack a pair or two, but we were told to change into the gear they gave us when we got there, wore it all through the week, and then wore it to the airport. I felt at the end that the civilian clothes and running shorts I had brought were unnecessary and wasted space in my suitcase (it was hard to find space for the gear they gave me).

I found the compression shorts very useful. The shorts they give you are pretty baggy, and they'll swing around and ride up a lot when you're running and jumping and doing sit ups, ect. I wore them mostly for modesty, so I guess you don't HAVE to have them.

Also on a side note, make sure that one of the pairs of sneakers you bring is an old pair you don't mind throwing away. Wear them during sea trials! They're going to become soaking wet and muddy, and you won't want to bring them back home with you. I made the mistake of doing that and even though I packed them in a plastic bag for the trip home, it got all over EVERYTHING and began to mold in the extremely short amount of time spent in my suitcase.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
