We plan to pack only what the list said, however...the list says goggles but no bathing suit. Am I right to assume that a suit will be provided? Otherwise he can swim in his undies.

Judging by the Indoc photos, it looks like everyone is issued one.

Speaking of the packing list....I think this has been addressed before but I'm too lazy to look it up, if DS already has a bank account with an ATM card and also has a credit card should we still send along a check for him to open a NFCU account? One more thing, I sent check to USMMA over two weeks ago for the fees, check still hasn't been cashed. Should I call or has anybody else not had their check cashed?

Our DS already had a NFCU acct, savings and Visa Check card and at the orientation, they said that he would have to set up a new account so that it is not tied to my accounts.

We had used his NFCU Visa to pay his bill, mailing it on 6/12/09 and when I questioned it at the beginning of this week why it had not been charged to his account, I received an email from USMMA that it would be processed in the near future and that it was good to go. Apparently, their office is really busy right now. Took a while to get through.

Hope this helps.

Looking at last year's swim meet during indoc

http://www.usmma.edu/parents/Photo Album Day 13 SWIM MEET.pdf

It looks like the guys used PT shorts issued on day 1. The girls used a navy blue bathing suit.

This year, according to the list, they all have to bring navy blue PT shorts and the girls aren't required to bring a bathing suit. I really doubt the girls will swim in their PT shorts  so I assume that, at least the girls, will be issued suits

We have been told many times to not bring something is not listed. :thumb:

we were issued bathing suits
as were all plebes since i've been here, i assume they'll keep the tradition going.

Yet another question cleared.

Thanks Is2Day!!

Opinions please

What are the odds of being in deep do do, if my DS shows up with UnderArmour white shifts instead of cotton Fruit of the Loom undershirts?

undershirts

Keep in mind that the crew neck of the undershirt is visible at the top of the khaki shirt that is worn daily by all mids. My experience is that uniform means uniform.

OTC medication

The Logging-In booklet is very clear that DS can't bring OTC medications like tylenol, motrin or vitamins to Indoc. Can we send them to him immediately after Indoc?

Cotton crew neck !!

2013,White cotton crew means what it says. White cotton crew neck under shirt. Following the directions will make life so much less complicated not any easier though.

Another question, there is no mention about sleeping pants, PJs, t-shirts, etc. Is it OK to bring such things or will they be provided as well?

What are guidelines?

don't worry about it. if it's not mentioned it's a nonissue. they tell you everything you need to know and nothing more. :)

Socks

Packing list says white socks "without stripes or trim." DS has good quality socks from Costco that are white, crew length, no stripes or trim, but the heel, toe, and bottom of foot are gray. Only white shows when shoes are on. Would these be acceptable for Indoc, or should he buy all white?

May be an issue for inspections as if the gray shows when folded "the proper way" it wouldn't be looked well upon.
