Hello all!
I’m new to this forum (about 3 weeks now) and I’ve gone through as many posts as I can looking for info specifically related to USAFA (Football) Candidates and can’t seem to find much. It seems our DS’s have a bit of a different journey getting into the Academy and I would love to get some clarity.
From my research in here, it seems that my DS is a “blue chip” athlete and has been “fast tracked”. As he didn’t make his decision to attend USAFA until National Signing Day on 2/7/24, we didn’t start this process until 2/8/24 and it has been a mad dash to get all documentation and testing done by the 3/15/24 deadline that we were given.
Can someone tell me if it’s a hard deadline for USAFA where if you don’t see anything in your portal by a specific date, you should assume your Candidate didn’t get in? As I saw another person say, other school deadlines are coming up fast!
I will also take this opportunity to introduce myself and my DS.
We are from the Central Texas area (Manor) and we are so excited about this opportunity! My Mom is retired Army but never in a million years did I think I might be a military Mom (my emotions are all over the place about this decision). DS is a graduating senior who is valedictorian of his class (1 out of 529) and will also graduate with his Associates and level 1 certification in phlebotomy. He has an unweighted 4.0 GPA in both high school and college with a 1430 SAT. He will play Center/OL and wants to do a double major in Bio/Engineering and minor in Spanish, then heading to med school. He checks all the boxes for community service, leadership rolls in school, and all that other stuff.
We did an official visit in late January to USAFA so I think that means we don't have to participate in the Spring visits I saw posted.
