Frontier Airlines will begin running non stop flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor directly to and from Colorado Springs this summer. The drive back to Denver airport after parent's weekend last year had extremely heavy traffic, due to Labor Day, so we are looking forward to flying directly out of Colorado Springs! Keep in mind there is only one flight per day, but it is worth it! (and its pretty inexspensive!)

The one problem is if the flight is cancelled. We had that happen with Allegiant, and they don't have any other flights the same day like Southwest. It wasn't good...

Uh, oh, how far in advanced were you notified of the cancellation?

Beware of Frontier, and only fly them at your own peril. They very often add new routes into the 'lesser' airports, yet they will not last even a month, then you are scrambling for a new ticket on another airline last minute. Some of my co-workers stories of Frontier mishaps are legend. They are notorious for cancelling their one flight a day. Their prices seem to good to be true.......and they are.

Point taken - and I was so excited about this parent's weekend option - we can still try to fill the flight for Parent's weekend so it won't get cancelled! Thank you for all of your info

UPDATE: We flew Frontier direct to Colorado Springs for Parents Weekend - It went PERFECTLY! Both flights were actually 15 minutes early - and it was so much less stressful flying direct, and not having to deal with the I 25 traffic to Denver. Will definitely fly this route again.

It is really nice to fly into COS. Once, it was only $6 (SIX DOLLARS) more to fly into COS than into DIA, with all that headache.

The only problem we ever experienced was a flat tire on the airplane, and the geniuses at American thought they could change it with the plane fully loaded. Took them two hours to figure it out.

My kids have flown Frontier many times with no problem; can't speak to the other carriers.
