My son has received an AROTC scholarship (if medically qualified). He was medically disqualified for ADHD (Academic Skills Defect) in April. In May, his status changed to "Pending Waiver Submission/Review". He called the DoDMERB representative in the disqualification letter he received who also let him know his status was pending review. Any idea what happens from here? Will he be contacted for more information? He discontinued taking ADHD medication in June 2008 and actually improved his academic record substantially after doing so.

He is scheduled to begin school Aug. 24th - we have been moving forward as if his waiver will be granted; however, when will we know for sure?

Thanks!

My son is in the same situation. Best to contact Larry Mullen at Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil with your son's last 4 and situation. He can answer any direct/personal question.

Now, based on our experience, we were asked to send in my son's Senior transcript as a remedial. He quit taking meds in June of 08, graduated May of 09, received his scholarship offer in April, and starts school on the 24th of August. We sent his remedials in (he has some other issues as well) on the 26th of June and are waiting for the final review.

From what I understand, and I may be incorrect, but as long as their scholarship is activated before the end of the semester, it still pays for the semester. We are continuing as if all will be well.

Best to you!

Judy

Ya, we're in the same boat. We've been waiting since April to hear on my daughter's waiver. She received her scholarship for the AROTC in May. We pinged Mr. Mullen. Not much for us to do but wait...

I understand the process and that everyone is working hard to crank through this stuff, it's just difficult to have this hanging out there.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies! An email has been sent. We actually communicated with Mr. Mullen back in April when he was initially disqualified (before the pending review was initiated). I guess I am concerned because we have heard nothing since. Mostly worried that we should be doing something, sending some supporting information, or at least something.

When does it become too late?

If U sent me an email, that's my next stop. I'll answer you from there:thumb:
