Pennsylvania nominations

To those waiting DS nom showed up on portal before his phone call. So keep checking ur portal:)

We received a letter from Toomey saying our applicant is the principla nominee. The letter does not indicate if that means the alternates are competitors or actually alternates. Anyone have any insight?

I've seen the principal nomination being dismissed as meaningless and also deemed a big advantage. Anyone care to weigh in on that? We were (obviously) super-stoked when the letter came in but are now wondering if we should ignore it.

Congrats. I think it partly depends on which SA. Great for WP and AFA because of CFR provisions requiring appointment of principal if 3Q. USNA not so much because no corresponding CFR provision.

Should have specified - USNA. Yeah, I've read that it's not a big a help there as it is at other SA. Bummer.

Does anyone know if a MOC would personally call you to tell you that you didn't receive a nomination? I am supposed to receive a call soon.

It could go either way depending on the MOC. You may only get a letter in the mail weeks after your interview. If you receive a NOM, you may find out via your portal or by letter or phone call. All the MOC have their own way of notifying their nominees.

First of all, hope for good news!

Second I believe they would contact by one method or another (phone, email, snail mail) to let you know. I'm venturing a phone call would be good news where an email or letter would be either!

Good luck!

None of our MOC called my DD to let her know of her NOMs. She received one from her senator and one from her rep and only found out via her portal. Her second senator sent a snail mail weeks later informing her that although she was deserving, she would not be nominated by him because she already received one and he does not double nominate.

In summary, just because you don't get a phone call, it does not always mean you did not land the nomination. Patience is a must, and in time, you will find out one way or another. As I said before, each MOC does their own thing.

Thanks everyone, I really am hoping it is the Nom,and you guys have eased my worries!

Yesterday, my Son received the letter declining Nomination from Casey.
Son received the letter declining Nomination from Toomey on Jan. 2.

I think it safe to ass-u-me the Senator Letters from PA declining Nominations have been put in the mail.

Son did receive a Nomination to USNA from Rep. Mike Kelly (PA-3) back in mid-December.

Murfthesurf, sorry to hear that. Chin up though, you only need one to get an appointment. Best of luck. I'm cheering for your DS.

Thanks Falcon, but he's not disappointed by any stretch! Like you said he only needs to get *at least* ONE! ....and he did !

He is 3Q + he is being recruited.

I was told it was very competitive this year in our MOC district despite Mike Kelly having (2) USNA slots open for PA-3 (because two sisters that are graduating this year. )

My Son's Plan "B" is solid with a NROTC ISR Scholarship, awarded back in early December.

Hopefully, we will know for certain of his USNA status, by mid-February .

Any word from Congressman Perry in PA-04? He has been slow in the past, so living up to expectations, I guess.
