Have been looking at the college ranking/selection websites (i.e., collegeboard and collegedata, etc) and noticed that the USCGA admit rate is much higher than the other Service Academies. For many years I heard that the USCGA was one of the toughest of the Academies to get into. So this does not make sense. Is there some funny business in the numbers? Some sites say USCGA is as low as 8% admit rate and some say as high as 30%. Whereas the other academies are fairly consistent over the years except that recently (2009) USNA is more exclusive (lower admit rate) due to drastic increase in applications (10k to about 15k). USMA and USAFA are at about 10k applications. Collegeboard says that they get info from the colleges and if true then USCGA is saying it has about 1500 applications when other sites say >3000 applications. Any analysis or explanation would be appreciated. I know this kind of information usually doesn't make a hill of beans but I would just like to know. Thanks.
