percent admitted

Wow!

As of yesterday, we have received 5,141 applications, but only 1,097 complete records.

The CCEB will start reviewing RA files on January 14th and we will begin reevaluating EA deferrals shortly thereafter.

I'm shocked at the amount of applicants that did not or have not completed the process. The percentage is higher than last year. Just curious if the essays were what stopped many from completing the application? Were there more essays this year than in the past?

The final/RA deadline (February 1st) is still three weeks away, so it's just not possible to compare last year's completion rate with this year yet. It's really amazing how many applications are completed just before or right on the deadline...we had less than 500 complete applications with three weeks to go until the November 1st EA deadline.

We did add one more essay question this year, but I don't believe that change will have any real impact on the overall completion rate. We actually send a survey out to everyone who started, but did not complete their application, and the three most common reasons for not finishing are:

1) Decided they were not interested in attending the Academy; 2) Got accepted to first (or a higher) choice school; and 3) Medically disqualified and did not want to pursue a waiver.
