I know that these take place on I-Day at 6 PM......does anyone know where (what location on the Academy) that these take place?

DO print out the booklet from the link mentioned by Hemingway here and by Themutis on the thread "2010 I-Day Parents Information". It is VERY informative, even exciting. Helped me to calculate how many tissues I'll need that day as well.

DS plans to have grandfather do the personal swearing in on I-day, he's retired Navy. Does he need to wear a uniform? Is that an option? And if so, does he go back to the hotel and change into his uniform or can he do it there? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

navy616- DS did not have a personal swearing in, but we saw many that did. It was right after the ceremony off to the side. I doubt that there would be enough time to change after the Induction ceremony. If he wears the uniform, where it to the ceremony. Between report time and Induction ceremony you will have the entire day to get ready.

Thank you singapore mom. Did you see many that where in uniform?

oh yes, many were in uniform. Also, no need to worry about plebe feeling uncomfortable or not wanting to draw attention. This is the one time that no one is focusing on them...for a change! As soon as the induction ceremony is over, the place clears out and everyone is looking for their plebe. organized chaos!

The link listed above no longer works and was from 2010 I-day (one of the issues with tacking on notes to older threads). Since things can change from year to year, make sure to read the information provided to you by the academy relating to 2011 timing and activites.
