I recognize this isn't the most pressing question on the forum right now, but does anyone know of a good picnicking spot at West Point?

I'll be heading up for the concert on the 20th and was wondering if anyone knows of a scenic spot where a picnic would be permitted (or, if not on the actual grounds of the academy, then somewhere nearby).

Thank you!

Please don't worry about "unimportance". You tagged your post well, so those who don't about it can feel free to ignore it.

We've had some wonderful times in nice weather walking down the stairs next to Cullum Hall and the West Point Club to [I think it's called] South Beach - right on the river near the old train station, the boathouse, the ferry landing, and a park maintained for families who live on base. You can drive there easily from Thayer Gate and park down there, or walk down, but if you walk down, it is probably four or five flights back up.

I'm sure others have sites to contribute?
