PIMA & fencersmother take over the world

Congratulations

OK, bragging mom here:

My C5M Galaxy PILOT got his wings, and won the Academic Award!

Missed only 3 of 845 questions.

I think my buttons burst all the way to Pittsburgh (which is a very VERY long ride, there and back, from Vance)!

I happened to quote just this one, but you and Pima have so many things to be thanked and congratulated for.... wish we could be there live, but know we are in spirit!

why thanks, mmb5! PIMA is such a cool lady and our kids are AWESOME!! (No maternal bias there, of course!)

Speaking of our kids, as I write this PIMA's son has met up with THE OTHER TWIN and they are having fun "camping" in the woods for a several days. We are anxious to hear PIMA's son's report on just how it was working with "the other one."

LMAO,

Our DS is not known for calling us very often UNLESS it starts with:
I have a question.....

Trust me, even when your child is handed a multimillion dollar airframe to fly they still are learning their way in life.

I am just hoping the next time DS calls the question he does not have for me is how do you cook a bunny? :shake:

Bunny cooking?

Salt, pepper, some dandelion greens, wild scallions, and any other veggie you have squirreled away!

Yum!!!

LMAO again.

"squirreled" away !

Are you suggesting a stew of bunny and squirrel? If so I need to buy the Duck Dynasty cookbook!

OBTW ask Bullet what he ate at Arctic survival...pizza would be the answer.

Squirrel and rabbit stew! Hot dang!

There are all sorts of critters u p there in the North Woods. Are they allowed to "take" anything? Like a bear? (My cousin's 13 y.o. dtr got a black bear in northern Idaho a few years ago and made the newspaper!)

Such a hardship.

Yep, just like swimming off the coast to Florida for water survival.

WOW! What an amazing story! CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU!

I've loved reading about your boys the last few years, and so exciting that they are winged and their paths have merged!
Brings back fond memories, yes, the AF is a small small world. DH went to Pilot training in Del Rio, then to Randolph flying the C-21, then to Dover to fly C-5s. Fencersmom, we LOVED Dover! It was so close to everything!

Pima and Fencersmom, my niece (also a USAFA grad) is flying C130s at Dyess! PM me if your son's want her contact info when they get there, she'd be happy to help them get settled if they need anything!

My new Ensign is headed to Pensacola for flight training in August, like you both, I am holding my breath until he gets over this last major hurdle! What a proud moment for you wonderful Mommas!

::blushing::

Ahhh, falcon...

OK: Pensacola. Remind DS: do not speed. Um, I'm not saying just who was picked up speeding in Milton or Pensacola but let's just say that 2LT is very regretful of THAT behavior. :)

My DS is getting married on the base at DYESS on July 5th. Come on over!

Actually, he and his fiance have bought a house there; cutest house in the whole Lone Star State. :thumb:

Congrats!(on the wedding not speeding ticket) My niece just got engaged last month. She and her fiance bought a house there too. It was a new build. She loves it!

Sending fencer all of my best thoughts today as her DS gets married.

For the longtime posters many of you might remember her DIL as Nordicskier. She is an AFA 2013 grad.

Beautiful wedding!!! They cut the cake with son's sabre! :)

Lots of newly minted 1st LTs there, and a few 2LTs, too.

Son off to Little Rock AFB for training on the C130J while his wife will continue to keep the B2 in the skies over west Texas!

training after UPT

This is off topic, but reminded me of something I don't know. Once the "kids" are done with UPT on the T1 side - do they go directly from T1's to C5's (or whatever they are assigned to?). Seems a bit of a jump - just curious!

Congrats to the newlyweds!

D

Yes and no. They do jump from the T1 directly into the C-XXX, BUT...

They will be sent to a school house, i.e. fencer's and my DS are at Little
Rock. They will train there for 6 months, and then go to their operational base. For our boys it will be Dyess.
~ Fencer can tell you where the C-5 training is before her DS goes to Dover.

Once at their operational base they will still have some more training, but this is just to become MQ for the area regarding flying, after that they are considered operational and can be deployed. Thus, from winging to operational for our boys it will be close to another full year. All in all it will be almost 3 years after commissioning to get to that point.

DS's path:
Commissioned : May 26, 2012
Casual status until Feb 2013
IFS completed: March 2013
UPT winged: April 24, 2014
SERE/Water Survival: May/June 2014
C130 training: July 15, 2014
Expected RNLTD Dyess: Feb 2015
MQ: March 2015

Equaling 34 months. Fencers DS is about 3 weeks behind our DS because his wedding gave him a hiccup in his class start date at Little Rock, even though our boys both graduated from UPT at the exact same time.

My C5 twin is taking his training right at Dover. I think the C5 trains and is stationed only at Dover and Travis (CA). Since they are HAVING A BABY in October (this is the one who married July 2013, thank you), I'm glad it's Delaware and not Travis.

Not really, about a week or two if I recall, and during that time he was in processing for his UPT start....flight doc physical, PFT, and PCA paperwork.
~ Our DS was casual at Del Rio, so he PCAd out of one squadron into his UPT squadron. Fencers DS was casual at the AFA so he did a straight PCS.

Some will go to IFS earlier and do casual status in between IFS and UPT.

I would also remind people that about 20 +/-% of our DSs flight at the T1 tracking point were wash backs, thus their time line could be much longer.
~ On this site alone there are 3 that I know that got washed back for medical reasons. It happens more frequently than people realize.

By Vance son had some severe ear issues and was a washback - but went on to do very well, and didn't really have problems later.

I believe he finished his schedule was something like this:

Casual at Whiting Field (yes, navy) July 2012 - Nov 2012
PCS to Vance Nov 2012
IFS Jan/Feb 2013
Casual at Vance Feb 2013-June 2013
UPT June 2013 - Aug 2013
Washback Aug/Sept 2013
UPT resumed with different class: Sept 2013
UPT grad: May 2014
PCS to Dover: July 2014
