PLEASE RESPOND AS LOAs COME IN

Does anyone have information on the average Standardized Test Scores for LOAs to URMs (under-represented minorities)?

If your DS/DD has an LOA and is picked as 1 of those 10, they are in. The beauty is that doesn't count against the congressman's slot. Last year, our congressman had two open slots (they have 5 to spread over 4 years at each academy). He also had two kids with LOAs. So ---- he got 4 appointees in his district into the Academy in one year....

I did want to clarify that the bolded part above is NOT necessarily true as a blanket statement. For the most part, the top WCS score in the district is charged to the MOC, LOA or not. If there is more than one LOA in a district, and they each receive 1 of the 10 nominations from the MOC, yes, they will both get in. But that doesn't mean the MOC still has another vacancy. It's possible in the situation above that some of the candidates were charged to the senator, to a presidential nomination, etc. I've seen districts get in 11 or more candidates. However, for the most part in a district with one LOA, that candidate is usually strong enough to have won that slate and another candidate will NOT get in, just because the first candidate has an LOA. Another candidate could get in off the NWL, or the LOA candidate could get charged somewhere else, etc. so you'll see more candidates than just the one in a district frequently. But generally the LOA has nothing to do with it.

Great clarification. The "LOA doesn't count against the MOC" is a pervasive rumor that is occasionally true

Well said, Marciemi.

I got my LOA halfway through September. Going through the process for getting a congressional nomination now. I was so incredibly excited to get that letter though!!!

Look to see if you can retake the CFA. Your pullups and bb throw might be considered failing, and a failing subscore in the CFA means you fail the CFA as a whole (If I'm not mistaken).

I'm sure with your test scores you can retake the CFA. Maybe you wouldn't even need to take the CFA again at all.

Assuming you're female and the unpublished minimum scores haven't changed drastically, you didn't fail either of those sections.

LiveGold, that completely skipped my mind for some reason.

Yes, LiveGold is completely right, my apologies.
