Plebe Care Package

Here's what I ended up sending. 5 dozen toll house cookies, oreo cookie truffles, power bars, and trail mix. Addressed by name and class year. Thank you all for your input and colorful stories :)

I was was an awesome roommate 1/C year, I basically commuted. My girlfriend worked at Melville Hall so she got two parking passes and gave me one. I used to park in front of Land Hall right next to my CO. Being on the six-year plan I barely had enough credits to be a full time student and managed to schedule almost everything between 1000 and 1300. Most days I would leave after lunch and drive back in before colors. I realized eventually that being seen between 0600 and 0700 in jeans would probably attract attention so I started wearing PT gear in the mornings. Literally the second day I started doing that I ran in to cheap shot on my way in the Palmer hall zero deck door by the Laundry. It was hard to keep a straight face when he asked if it was a good workout. I ignored the questions and just replied with "good morning sir".

Someone will come along eventually and bring this thread back on track ... or not

Wow, good deal. . . SIX year plan? Foo, didn't like the place enough for a five year plan so I got out as soon as I could. . . last quarter of 1st class year was like a vacation compared to the rest of the time. . . license passed, few classes, free gangway. . . I also used that Zero Deck door, but usually late at night/early morning for, well, uh. . . .we just might put some fear into some parents. . . . I am sure kids are much better behaved now. . . I know mine are. . .

My second half of 1st class year was pretty good. My roommate had a local girlfriend and would spent the weekends with her, giving me the room. . . . probably how we got on so well. . . had a good group in that little wing, too. Four 1st Class and Four 2nd Class. . . bar was open in my room every weekend. . .

This would definitely not fly today. There's a 'duty section' that comes opens everyone's door and checks that they're in their rooms at about 2300 every night.

We had that. . . tattoo check or something. . . . can't recall. . . .is the duty section made up of midshipmen? Of course most of the time I went over the wall, I made sure I was on a registered Team Movement. . . . For instance, I was in the hockey club but never laced up. . . I remember third class year, in once instance, I didn't go to "practice" with the team and was cutting some major zees. . . . at about 0030, who wakes me up with a flashlight but Fred Flintstone (the assistant commandant) asking me about one of the team members who was unaccounted for. . . . I had no clue, and it took about 15 minute to convince him. . . . . funny what you remember. . . .

This was 1/C year. No point checking on upperclassmen, nothing said I had to be in my room by 2300 even if I was on board.
